Q: Email subject line in iOS 10, without a preview of the whole email...

I use my phone for a lot of emails for work. Often times I get emails from myself from an auto email system. I have the notifications set up to show me on the lock screen. But I don't need a whole preview of the emails. I prefer to see just the subject line. I can't figure out a setting to include the subject line as was available before upgrading. It just says the senders name and "Mail Message". Is there a fix to this or something Apple decided was not a necessary option?

Also, I want to go back to being able to delete from the lock screen without going to View first. It's an unnessary step to simply delete emails that I know I don't need!

    You're not paying attention.  We want just the SENDER and SUBJECT, like what existed before.

    Uh, yes, I have been paying attention. I have been trying to give suggestions based on what features are available NOW. No one here can change things. All we can do is offer advice on how to make adjustments that may help, if only a little. Taking your ire out out on us, your fellow users, is both rude and pointless.

    Submit your feedback to Apple here:

    That they have people who think this change is an improvement is shocking.

    That it doesn't occur to you that other people my have different preferences than you is shocking.

    I Followed your advice Meg

    Submitted:-

    Please, what happened with the option to delete emails from the lock screen - as you will know a simple swipe left presented the option to delete.

    This facility has been taken away!!

    Somebody had a serious brain fart maybe?

    As a business user I found this extremely helpful. A quick and simple way to screen emails, delete the garbage but enjoy the lock screen preview.

    Please, bring it back.

    Thank you

    Graham

    This kind of thing makes me wonder what mix of people are doing their beta testing. I've submitted feedback requesting the ability to see the subject line, and to not see the message body. I don't think I'd use the ability to delete from the lock screen, but I can see that others would.

    Anyone here who hasn't submitted feedback, please do. I doubt they'll change anything if there are only a couple of complaints.

    Showing the complete e-mail is also a security and privacy issue.  The subject may be okay, but the body could contain information that the user does not want on the notification area.  Yes, I can only make them available on an unlocked phone, but that makes the whole thing useless.  Unlocking the phone is most of the way to just opening the mail app.  The notification of sender and subject was the most useful version of this problem.

    This is not a perfect fix, but it is better!

    Switch preview on in Settings>Notifications

    Go to Steeings>Mail>Preview and change to 1 Line.

    That will then display the sender, the subject and just the first line of the email.

    As I said, not a fix, but better than all or nothing!

    Super helpful Mrimmx, thank you so much!  I had no idea that was there and definitely makes it better.

    Now if we could just change the background color of the notification box to something not blindingly bright...

    I had same issue.   Sort of resolved by:

    Settings->

    Notifications->

    Mail->

    <Mail provider> badges

    Mail Options, Disable show previews

    I now have just sender shown.     Better, but still not as good as previous release
