Q: Voicemail transcription never finishes. Why?

iPhone SE running iOS 10. When I get a new voicemail, I tap it, which begins the transcription process. Or at least, makes the phone say "Transcribing..."

But the Transcribing... message never goes away, and no transcription ever appears. I'm able to listen to the voicemail, and my data connection works well. So far, I have never been able to get a transcription to finish.

How do I make it finish the transcription?

iPhone SE, iOS 10.0.1, null

    Hi Nospam Nospam,

I understand that you are having some difficulties finishing transcribing your voicemails on your iPhone. I know that it's nice to be able to read messages that are left for you, so I'm happy to help.

When transcribing voicemail messages, it helps to be connected to Wi-Fi. You can read more about that here:

See a transcribed voicemail - Apple Support

If you don't see transcriptions for some of your voicemails

When you plug in your iPhone, old voicemails are transcribed in the background. This may take up to 24 hours.

If voicemail transcriptions don't appear, connect to Wi-Fi and check a new voicemail. To check, you can leave yourself a voicemail. It may take up to 24 hours for the transcription to appear. If it still doesn't appear, you can also try using dictation in another app, then check for the transcription again.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

Thanks for the link -- but the article doesn't address the problem I'm seeing.
