Apple TVHi. Make sure the username and password are set in the SMTP settings. The automatic setup tends to make them optional, which is not correct.

This may mean the recipient's email is incorrect (or misspelled). Verify that you spell the address correctly. Does failure to send only happen to 1 recipient? If it only happens to 1 recipient, verify the address is correct. Have you tried sending an email to different recipients? Do they all fail? If they all fail, verify your SMTP username and password are correct.

Sep 28, 2016 9:18 AM in response to ShagCAby douglasfromsouthport,Sorry folks, it seems that the server is at fault.
I tried sending email from the server's webmail page and it "failed to send mail".
I contacted talktalk and after 2 hours with them trying to fix it, I finally gave up. They could not understand or accept that their webpage was causing the problem. They made me go through numerous setting and tests, it still did not work. They suggested I try again but I have told my wife to get a new email address with another provider.
Getting assistance from talktalk on matters other than simple setup procedures is a dead end time waster. This is not the first time but it is the last. I now have nothing to do with talktalk.
Wife is now using her iCloud email address, it has taken me years to get her to change!!
Phew, apologies for the rant.
