Q: I cannot send emails from my iPad.

Suddenly in the last day or two I cannot send emails from my iPad. I can receive them.

The problem occurred suddenly and unexpectedly, no changes were made not even the password.

I upgraded to IOS 10.0.2 tonight but still no joy.

I deleted my email account and reloaded the details. Password is correct, SSL in use, Server port 587, smtp.tiscali.co.uk

What can be done to fix this problem?

iPad Air, iOS 10.0.2

SMTP settings look good to me. What happens when you send out email?

Hi. Make sure the username and password are set in the SMTP settings. The automatic setup tends to make them optional, which is not correct.

    A notice pops up,

    Cannot Send Mail

A copy has been placed in your outbox.

The recipient "email@OOOo.com" was rejected by the server.

    OK

Username and password are in use on SMTP settings.

This may mean the recipient's email is incorrect (or misspelled). Verify that you spell the address correctly. Does failure to send only happen to 1 recipient? If it only happens to 1 recipient, verify the address is correct. Have you tried sending an email to different recipients? Do they all fail? If they all fail, verify your SMTP username and password are correct.

Sorry folks, it seems that the server is at fault.

I tried sending email from the server's webmail page and it "failed to send mail".

I contacted talktalk and after 2 hours with them trying to fix it, I finally gave up. They could not understand or accept that their webpage was causing the problem. They made me go through numerous setting and tests, it still did not work. They suggested I try again but I have told my wife to get a new email address with another provider.

Getting assistance from talktalk on matters other than simple setup procedures is a dead end time waster. This is not the first time but it is the last. I now have nothing to do with talktalk.

Wife is now using her iCloud email address, it has taken me years to get her to change!!

    Phew, apologies for the rant.
