Q: iOS 10 CarPlay Issue

Every since updating to iOS 10 and upgrading to the iPhone 7, the CarPlay playlists are totally out of order.  In other words, while it lists the correct playlists, the order of those playlists on the car display are wrong.  I can play them in the correct order if I operate it through my phone, but it will play them in the incorrect order if I try to operate it through the CarPlay screen.

    Hi there phisto!

Welcome and thanks for bringing your question about the order of CarPlay playlists to the Apple Support Communities.  I love having my music everywhere I go, particularly homemade playlists, so I'm happy to help today.

When running into issues with CarPlay, there are a few recommendations but the one that seems the most useful will be to consult your car manufacturer for updates to the firmware.  It may be that since iOS 10 came out, the firmware needs to be updated as well.

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, here’s what you can check. After each step, try using CarPlay again.

    1. Make sure that Siri is turned on.
    2. Restart your iPhone and your car. Depending on your car, you might see the CarPlay Home screen when you turn it on. If you don't, look for the CarPlay logo on your car’s display.
    3. If possible, connect your iPhone to a different USB port in your car.
    4. Try a different Lightning to USB cable. Make sure the cable is certified.
    5. Update to the latest version of iOS.
    6. Check your car’s manual for help. You might need to install firmware updates for your stereo.

So it was working. The cable (apple cable that came with the phone) the USB is the same, the car stereo is the same firmware but the iPhone 6 has been upgraded. The issue is the phone not the firmware on my car. It worked yesterday... today it doesn't.
