Sep 28, 2016 1:18 PM in response to MikefromRBby becky_s22,Hi there MikefromRB!
Thanks for bringing your question about ethernet not working since upgrading to macOS Sierra beta to the Apple Support Communities. I rely on my ethernet to work properly and am happy to assist you today.
Removing network interfaces and rebooting are good troubleshooting steps. My first recommendation is to do an SMC reset.Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac
If the ethernet port still shows as unplugged, let's test with another good known ethernet cable to verify it's the Mac and not the cable that's causing the issue.
Best wishes.

Sep 30, 2016 5:58 AM in response to becky_s22by MikefromRB,OK, I did the SMC reset (twice). I also unplugged an ethernet cable connected to another Mac, with a good connection, and plugged it into the problem Mac. It still did not recognize that a cable was plugged in. Thanks.

Sep 30, 2016 9:22 AM in response to MikefromRBby alex7375,I have the same MBP with macOS Sierra installed.
My ethernet port works fine.
However I did have problems with my ports before.
Solution was to clean out all the dust in my ports that was causing a bad connection.
I used a can of compressed air that I purchased at Walmart.

Give it a try.
