Sep 21, 2016 12:35 PM in response to techbot93by x64uk,Some additional info: I've also submitted feedback (but I neglected to include a link to this thread).
I also tried iTunes (12.5.1 and an earlier version) on an entirely different Win10 pro v1607 x64 PC. The PC had a very basic Windows installation. The earlier iTunes version displayed the playback preferences correctly. I then updated to 12.5.1 and immediately the playback prefs were greyed out.

Sep 28, 2016 4:52 AM in response to techbot93by P Doff,Same problem here, the issue occurred immediately after the most recent iTunes update, the Windows "Anniversary Update" had yet to be installed. That update has now been installed & I have uninstalled/re-installed iTunes which actually ended up reducing my sound quality by going from 96kHz 24bit to 44.1kHz 16bit so I can't even restore it to where it was! Arrrrrgh!!

Sep 28, 2016 3:42 PM in response to P Doffby KitchenKnives,Yep, exactly the same issue here. Infuriating. Tried the alternate 64-bit download and it worked, but has no access to Apple Music, rendering the entire program useless for me.

Oct 9, 2016 3:34 PM in response to techbot93by Shant Nakashian,Hi techbot93, I can see from your screenshot that the biterate for audio is set for 44.100kHz and, bits per sample for audio playback is 16bits.
Have you, by any chance changed the sample rate and, bit depth, on your Sound Speaker Properties, from the drop down menu, under Advanced? If you haven't tried this, close down iTunes, go back to your sound properties and change it to a higher number, apply it and see if it changes on iTunes. It will still be grayed out but at least you'll have a higher quality sound.
