Q: My 12" retina macbook has poor WIFi connection. any solution please?

I purchased a new Macbook 12" retina which i was so much excited about. just to realise the same day that the WIFI reception is devastatingly worst.

the router is just in the next room. like 10 metres away but the wifi reception is null. Sometimes there is no WIFI symbol at all while sometime the  wifi symbol is there but connection is slow like ****. takes 15 minutes to load a single page.

I am sick of this crap.

anybody please advice for the solution

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3), Macbook 12" retina

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

I Purchased the same macbook 12 inches on the first day itself by paying a premium of 17,000 INR to get the space grey color on the same day! (MY FOOLISHNESS) From the first day itself , I have been facing severe wifi issues. I am sitting exactly 5 meters away from the router and my macbook shows no wifi reception where as my macbook pro works perfectly fine!

I had to call apple support like a million times and had to explain them that. Tried out every thing what they told. Finally had to drop  it to the service centre...

Barely used the macbook for an hour or so and its been with service centre for 3 days!

I Hope i get a replaced device and apple fixes this issue soon!

    This is really pathetic!!

Bad experience with apple . Should have gone with dell XPS 13 instead!

Got the new Space Grey 12 inch Macbook. Internet connection never lasts longer than a few minutes before it just stops. Wifi reception is still full (according to the bars), just no internet. Turning wifi off and back on instantly fixes it for up to a minute, then I have to reset again. I have taken it to multiple locations and have the same issue on different wifi networks. Driving me crazy.

    Hi All

Got the same issues too even after upgrading to El Capitan.

Is there any recall program for this Mac?

    Thank you

    Dan

Have exactly the same problems as listed here, with my new macbook 12" retina. Found various levels of advice on possible ways to solve these problems, though non offer a long term solution. Getting very frustrated with the sporadic behaviour of the device, and very disappointed that Apple seemingly have a problem with this model, though are failing to address their customers concerns!!

I bought two 500 GB space gray 12 inch Macbooks last June and both of them are having the same issue with WiFi connectivity. Dozens of times per day it is necessary turn turn WiFi off and then on again to reconnect. I also swapped one of these Macbooks and the new one has the same issue. Spent countless hours on phone support with Apple, my internet service provider (though the issue happens everywhere), and even purchased several upgrades in routers. Issue persists. I'm a writer and on my computer all day and this issue is literally an additional task that has become necessary to integrate into my day. Really, really regretting purchasing these...

Same thing happens to me. I have to keep turning the wifi off and on again. It works for a while and then all of a sudden it stops. It keeps doing that, and it's not my router. I tried in 3 different places. The people using the wifi in those places didn't have the same problem as me.

If it gets really bad I even have to restart my computer.

Same thing here. Connection on 12'' MacBook drops all the time, needed to restart the computer about 10 times per day. Even when I have connection it is mostly incredibly slow. Got my MacBook repLaced for another 12'', same problem. Will Apple issue a fix? Acknowledge the problem? Anything?

I have been having problems with my Wifi too - I have the 2015 Macbook 12 inch model.

All of a sudden, wifi would drop and webpages would not load up. Google drive and wifi on my menu bar would grey out suggesting no connectivity.

Also when transferring large amounts of data over wifi within the local network (rather than over the internet) - the transfer would fail suggesting it's not just an internet connectivity issue.

Turning wifi off and on again seems to solve the problem temporarily, likewise resetting the laptop would get connectivity back again temporarily with the issue returning a short time afterwards.

The problem seemed to occur when the laptop was left on it's own for a while and so I have just tried turning off:

'Put hard disks to sleep when possible'

So far it seems to have solved the problem with no more dropped connections.

The above didn't solve the problem. Upon contacting Apple, they ran through some trouble shooting with me over the phone.

I have noticed further connectivity issues with other devices - I am using a Virgin Super Hub 3 which recently replaced a Virgin Super Hub 1. I'm losing connection to my NAS and having to reset my Wifi connection on my Macbook in order to gain access to my NAS again.Similarly using UPNP to stream from my NAS I'm facing similar connectivity issues to it from the smart TV with streaming being interrupted from time to time. I'm beginning to think the issues lies with either my network or my NAS and not my Macbook.

So far no dropped connections on my Macbook following the trouble shooting - and it's working as expected on public networks.

Same issue with mine - Retina 12" Early 2015.

Wifi is fine sometimes, but after sleep + wake often will be unable to ping / load any web pages until a full restart.

Today I had to power the machine off completely and bring it back online before I could get anywhere.

    Very frustrating.
