Sep 27, 2016 6:18 AM in response to ptouronby cleusmeusel,Hello ptouron,
the message is very unspecific and just telling me that there is an error with my Mailbox. It occurs after each attempt to connect from my mac and magically disappears after half an hour.

I don't know if this can help but I have the same problem with yahoo and gmail, i.e. no sync done on actions performed on the Mac with macOS Sierra, while everything is synced if actions are done on iOS devices...
Yahoo and Gmail are not Exchange accounts, you have a different issue.

Sep 27, 2016 6:24 AM in response to cyrilfromlasserreby cleusmeusel,Hi Cyril,
thank you for your description of the problem. I think the problem has to do something with ports and SSL as I do not have any problems when I add the account but after successfully adding and I think that also means successfully authenticating all my Apps won't connect to the Exchange Server.
Regards,
Clemens

Sep 27, 2016 6:35 AM in response to cyrilfromlasserreby ptouron,Hi,
OWA and EWS connection (via mail) are not related. The lockdown of your account depends of the security policy used on your domain (I assume your mailbox is hosted on a server managed by your IT department).
Obviously, if your account is locked, you cannot access your mailbox (online mode), either via OWA or EWS.
Mailbox account configured to use Exchange in mail app uses EWS; afaik mail doesn't let you change auth mode, but I really don't think that's cause of the issue.

Sep 27, 2016 6:46 AM in response to cleusmeuselby ptouron,Looks like you try to sync some corrupted items via mail, that put your mailbox in quarantine state. So, not a connection issue, but rather a mailbox issue (just a supposition).
Where is your mailbox hosted (on premise, O365 or other cloud provider) ?

Sep 27, 2016 6:58 AM in response to david.sinningby ptouron,To complete my previous comment, I confirm that sync goes well server-side (no connection issue whatsoever), but no new item are pulled in mail.
But certain operation works, like putting a mail unread or flag some items (seen in real time on Outlook or OWA). Also, calendar events are well synchronized too. The only thing that's broken is item refresh in folders (same issue if I move a mail in another folder).
It's a mail app issue for sure (for me anyway, some of you may have others issues).
Edit : Some background :
- 2 Exchange 2013/2016 account cloud hosted (OVH, O365) -> No issue at all
- 1 Exchange 2010 account hosted on premise -> Said issue (only after Sierra upgrade). So, like someone said in this thread, dev team certainly changes something in the connection handling on mail app that may break some operations on legacy Exchange version. Just a possibility.

Sep 27, 2016 11:50 AM in response to cleusmeuselby cyrilfromlasserre,Well it seems different for me. In my case, I can't add the account. It saying that it is unable to authenticate the account.
I have two other mac at home, one running Yosemite and the other El Capitan. I can't get my exchange account to work with any of my mac.
I asked my IT to take a look, and he successfully configure another exchange account on Sierra (on the very same laptop where I cannot configure my account).
So it seems that it has nothing to do with my mac(s), and I probably have a corrupted exchange account.
BTW, this account is working perfectly on Windows ...

Is Outlook Anywhere enabled on the Exchange 2010 server?
-
Sep 27, 2016 11:59 AM in response to KiltedTimby ptouron,No. It really is an EWS access.
We had issues with NTLM auth on reverse proxies for Outlook Anywhere access, so it is disabled.

Sep 27, 2016 12:59 PM in response to david.sinningby bergs10,Hi,
I have exactly the same problem on my iMac, I did re-install the account several times with no success. At the same time my Macbook air works perfectly. I compared both mac and found no differences. Have no idea what to do.

Sep 29, 2016 8:24 AM in response to david.sinningby Mynet,★HelpfulI found a solution that fixes my Exchange Server connection in macOS Sierra mail. Actually, this solution was mentioned earlier in this thread by “david.sinning” who posted a link to a workaround. I just could not understand how to implement the solution until now.
My Solution
First you need to know what the Exchange Server name and path is for both the internal and external connections. I was able to locate this information from another Mac that was still running El Capitan as follows:
Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> My Exchange Account -> Account information
Internal Server: webmail.mycompany.com
External Server: oa.mycompany.com
Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> My Exchange Account -> Advanced
Internal Server Path: /EWS/Exchange.asmx
External Server Path: /EWS/Exchange.asmx
Return to your macOS Sierra Mac mail application and delete the non-functioning Exchange Server account.
Add a new Exchange Server account as follows:
Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts -> select plus button “+”
For account provider select “Exchange” and click “Continue”
This gives you a box with the following fields:
Name: Jim
Email Address: Jim
Password: Jim
Just put something like “Jim” into each field and click “Sign In”
You get a box that allows you to input most of your settings manually:
Email Address: jim.cook@mycompany.com
User Name: jcook
Password: ******
Internal URL: https://webmail.mycompany.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
External URL: https://oa.mycompany.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Click “Sign In”
The above should have successfully created me a functioning Exchange Server account, but it did not!
The twist for me in macOS Sierra mail was I needed to use the External URL information for both the Internal and External URL fields.
Email Address: jim.cook@mycompany.com
User Name: jcook
Password: ******
Internal URL: https://oa.mycompany.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
External URL: https://oa.mycompany.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
This is what actually worked in my case.
One big note of caution. I found that you cannot edit and correct the settings of an existing Exchange Server account. You must start over from scratch. Every time I tried to correct the settings of an existing Exchange Server account it would only briefly work. macOS Sierra would then quickly query Exchange Server and change the account setup causing it to fail.
This whole issue is probably being caused by new changes in macOS Sierra along with my company not keeping their Exchange Server up to date.

Sep 29, 2016 11:22 AM in response to david.sinningby aflann,I am having the exact same problem. I contacted Apple but they said it was a problem with the Exchange server. After contacting Microsoft, they informed me that it was a problem with Apple's new operating system.
I even tried the to delete the account and try the suggestions from above but now it indicates that it cannot verify my account name and password. Please help.

Sep 29, 2016 11:31 AM in response to aflannby cyrilfromlasserre,Well, in my case, it's not sierra, it's really my account. Some accounts are working, some not, on the same exchange server. My IT is currently investigating to see if there is any differences between these accounts in AD or in Exchange Server
