Q: Why does sent folder contain 2 copies of all messages sent from MacBookPro?
Why does sent folder contain 2 copies of all messages sent from MacBookPro?
Whenever I send a message from my Mac Book Pro there is a duplicate in the sent folder. This does not happen with messages sent from iPhone 6s or Outlook website. It only happens when I send from Hotmail.ca and not from Gmail.com

Hey TaylorP56659,
I understand how duplicate sent emails can irritate you, no worries though! I can assist you with seeing if we can get this sorted out. So if it is only occurring with your Hotmail account, try checking the Hotmail account's Mailbox behaviors in the Mail preferences. It is possible that you have the sent items saving on the server which will allow the Mail app to have it twice. This is because a local copy and the downloaded server copy is in the App. Follow the steps below to disable saving the sent items on the server so that will not happen. You may also want to check the Hotmail settings via webmail.
1. Launch Mail app
2. Select the Mail preferences from the Mail Menu Bar
3. Click the Accounts tab
4. Highlight your Hotmail account
5. Click Mailbox Behaviors
6. Uncheck "Store sent messages on the server"
7. Close the Mail preferences and send a test message
You can see additional Mailbox Behaviors preferences
The steps above should stop those duplicates form popping up in your sent folder in the Mail app. Thanks for using Apple Support Communities
Have a great day.
