Q: iOS 10 Bluetooth Calling Infiniti G37

Hi

Since upgrading to the AT&T iPhone 7 (unwillingly - long story) with iOS 10, I have the unfortunate experience that Bluetooth is unusable for calling in my 2013 Infiniti G37.

Previously, accepting a call from the iPhone 6 resulted in the microphone being routed improperly, but accepting a call from the car's phone controls worked - audio and microphone routed correctly through the car's handsfree system.

On the iPhone 7, no matter which way you dial or accept a call in the car, the audio and microphone inputs always go through the phone. This is even though the phone indicates, incorrectly, that the audio is being routed through bluetooth.

This is a dangerous situation because you have to take your eyes off the road to try to correct it by switching the audio to the iPhone speaker or the iPhone handset, then switch it back to bluetooth in order for the audio to work correctly. Not good while driving.

It seems like Apple or its suppliers needs to issue new firmware or software updates to make this work correctly, asap.

Yeah, because I can guarantee I know how to connect via Bluetooth to my car and as described, it was working with my previous devices and previous iOS releases.

I too am having issues pairing my Infiniti G37 with my iphone 7. The connection is made but is very choppy. The bluetooth makes it sound like there is low cellular signal even when I have full bars. I've also had bluetooth issues with my wireless Beats headphones.

I have the same exact problem with my 2013 Infiniti G37X.  I'm using an iPhone 6S which worked fine in  the car until I upgraded to ios 10.

Same issue with 2010 FX35.  Unable to answer a call (goes straight to handset) and audio for outgoing calls choppy.

I'm having bluetooth issues on G37 as well, however I only encounter it on incoming calls.  I can make outgoing calls just fine, but if I answer an incoming call, neither I nor the caller can hear anything.  I have to hang up and call them back, which works fine through bluetooth.

This is a known issue already fixed by Nissan/Infiniti.  If you have no call audio after updating to iOS 10 in 2010-2013 Infiniti and some Nissan vehicles with Navigation, ask your dealer for a software update.  The software update information is contained in a service bulletin:

Nissan: NTB12-070b (No Audio During Phone Call with Apple iOS 10, Navigation System Reboots, and/or Audio Controls Will Not Respond - Amendment)

Infiniti: ITB12-054b (No Audio During Phone Call with Apple iOS 10, Navigation System Reboots, and/or Audio Controls Will Not Respond - Amendment)

If they don't have the update disc in stock, it may take them a couple of days to order it for you.

Today I emailed Infiniti about the iPhone 7 problem. Here is the response they gave me.

Thank you for contacting Infiniti and allowing us the opportunity to be of assistance. We apologize that you are experiencing concerns with connecting your new iPhone 7 to your 2012 Infiniti M via Bluetooth.

While we do not have an exact timeline for compatibility of your new iPhone 7, we can tell you that Infiniti is continually testing new Bluetooth phones as they become available. Not all Bluetooth phones will pass Infiniti testing standards. Phones that pass our rigorous requirements will be added to the Recommended Devices list periodically.

If you are wondering why your phone is not compatible, existing Bluetooth phones that are not listed as compatible have not passed Infiniti testing. Major calling functions like initiating, accepting and ending phone calls did not function properly and/or the Bluetooth connection was not stable.

    You may visit
www.infinitiusa.com/bluetooth periodically for updated compatibility listings.

2016 Infiniti Q50 here, same issue. Bluetooth works, but if I use my phone (start using other apps, browsing for music in Music app) the connection cuts out and comes back in.

I would really like Apple to respond to this. So the deal is, that Apple trumpets how they "fixed" Bluetooth and now the Bluetooth car system that was relatively speaking working well for me since my iPhone 5S will not work properly with iPhone 7. I now have to go get a software upgrade from an Infiniti dealer, that costs me additional money over the cost the phone and by the way new Bluetooth headphones... why? because they "fixed" Bluetooth?

    Ridiculous.
