Q: Mac OS Sierra Mail IMAP Account Attachments

Hi

Since I upgraded to Sierra, IMAP email account set up on mac mail is not functioning how it should. For a bizarre reason, attachments to number of mails in my inbox disappeared and I cannot find them. I can see the attachment on my IOS mail but not Sierra Mail. Can you please help?

Thanks

    Hi krmshn,

I understand that after upgrading to macOS Sierra, you are unable to view attachments that you've received through your IMAP mail account. I know it's important to have access to all of your files, so I'm happy to help.

It's possible that while upgrading, your IMAP mailbox has been corrupted and is preventing you from viewing these attachments. To resolve this, let's rebuild your mailbox.

    To rebuild your mailbox:
    1. Open Mail
    2. Highlight the mailbox in the sidebar on the left
    3. Use Mail’s menu bar and choose Mailbox > Rebuild. This will take some time depending on the number and size of the messages in the mailbox.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!

Thanks! I have the same problem, but the rebuild didn't work. It appears to be a bug since I didn't have this issue before Sierra.

Sorry, I have the same issue - as do pretty well all my colleagues (not networked) - and that procedure doesn't fix the problem. Nor does any of the more esoteric suggestions around the web. We're long time well advanced Apple Mac users with lots of problem solving experience.  We wish Apple would fix this fast: we can run businesses with an email client as hopeless as this. Most of us use webmail and some use other clients because we're out of time trying to find a solution ourselves.
