Sep 25, 2016 11:12 PM in response to Eric Rootby tyrotex,★HelpfulEric, The gmail support pages just points a user to ensure that they have the latest version of their browser installed.
Unfortunately, it is the latest version of Safari that appears to have broken gmail attachment downloading.
So, Bradley, thanks for reporting what appears to be a genuine issue with Safari. I just hope Apple can sort it out soon, or they will be driving a lot of their users to switch to Chrome.

Sep 25, 2016 11:16 PM in response to tyrotexby Bradford Bosley,I think I may have found a solution. If you right click on the attachment and choose Download Linked file As it will download. Ideally they would fix the download button to work as it should. But I guess this is a workaround for now.
Here's a link to my Google forum post

Sep 25, 2016 11:21 PM in response to Bradford Bosleyby tyrotex,Thanks Bradley,
I had tried that earlier without success. But I was right-clicking on the download arrow, rather than the "body" of the attachment, which works fine. Thanks for the heads-up.
Unfortunately your Google forum post link did not make it into your post.

Sep 29, 2016 2:22 PM in response to Bradford Bosleyby Jeff Gartner,Thanks Bradford, I'm having this same problem after updating to Safari 10.
I can right click on an attached pdf file but "Download Linked file" does not appear when you right click on an attached docx or xlsx file.
No problem downloading attachments in Chrome, but I prefer using Safari.
Any suggestions … Jeff

Sep 30, 2016 5:52 AM in response to Bradford Bosleyby Tex78,It's not a solution but in the gmail box where the files appear, hold down control/click and "download linked file". It works until they get it fixed.

Oct 6, 2016 1:06 PM in response to Bradford Bosleyby revans4352,The only thing I have been able to do is save it to Google Drive and then you can download items (all types so far) from there. Can't figure out where to point the finger though ;-)

Oct 6, 2016 1:46 PM in response to revans4352by Jeff Gartner,An Apple Tech Support person advised me to restart my Mac in Safe mode, and then restart it as usual, and that did solve this downloading of gmail attachments issue for me. Try it.
