Nothing at all. Just the built-in keyboard. Sticky keys is that way. You press it once, it only "sticks" for one mouse click/keyboard press (grey). Press it twice, it becomes "sticky" (white) and stays for until you press it the third time.
Just tried this on my mac (didn't know about pressing twice).
I find that with the double press (the command symbol becomes white), then the next click works.
Just a single press, and no matter how quickly or slowly I click, it does not command-click.

Sep 30, 2016 7:10 AM in response to Luis Sequeira1by favoriteno4,This is exactly my point. Previously, pressing CMD 1x (grey symbol) and left click (or single tap on trackpad) would open a new tab. It doesn't do that anymore in this new OS. This is what I'm trying to find the fix for.

Sep 30, 2016 7:14 AM in response to Luis Sequeira1by dialabrain,Maybe I'm the only one with working Sierra installs. Of the three of my Macs running Sierra, all three work either clicking on a link with a mouse or tapping on the link with the trackpad.

Sep 30, 2016 7:20 AM in response to dialabrainby favoriteno4,When you say "work", do you mean you're able to open a new tab when you press the command button ONCE, release it, and click on a link?

Sep 30, 2016 7:24 AM in response to favoriteno4by dialabrain,Yes (for approximately the sixth time).
I've done it with six browsers, 3 release and 3 developer versions, also works in Mail.

FWIW, I assume everyone knows you can't click somewhere else first, i.e. click on a tab to get to a link. For that, you would have to press the command key twice.

Sep 30, 2016 9:58 AM in response to dialabrainby tk4982,I tested on my MacBook Pro (2015) and Mac mini (2012) running Sierra and it doesn't work. However, my old white MacBook does work (running 10.6.8). I know that there are several ways to open a link in a new tab. I use US keyboard for three of them and I am just glad that I am not the only one having this issue. I do not know why we have this problem but not you, dialabrain. And I want your Mac right now.

Oct 2, 2016 7:21 AM in response to AlphaHoby favoriteno4,It was already checked in the first place, and it's not working either. Additionally, does it let you cmd + clik and open a new tab in Chrome?

Oct 3, 2016 2:53 PM in response to favoriteno4by AlphaHo,Mine was also already checked at the first place. But by unchecking and then checking it worked for me.
And I use Safari and Firefox mostly on my side, after re-checking the option in Safari, it now works in both Browsers, while it wasn't working after upgrading to Sierra.
I just checked and confirmed that it now also works in Chrome.

Oct 11, 2016 1:45 PM in response to tk4982by Bluefurry,So I've had this problem ever since installing Sierra, it appears to only be a problem with native OSX apps, it's only with the external keyboard attached via USB to my macbook pro.
Macbook Pro keyboard with mouse:
- If I command-click works as expected, opening a new tab with the link. (Expected behavior)
Using the external USB Keyboard (in this case a Corsair Strafe RGB) with mouse :
- VMWare Fusion and Win 10 with Firefox... it works.
- If I command-click in any web browser running directly on top of OSX link loads in current tab
- As a modifier using the keyboard it works, command-C copies, command-V pastes
It's rather annoying, almost as though it was purposefully disabled to force me to move to an apple keyboard

Seriously? I imagine Apple has better things to do than test all third-party keyboards and re-write their OS to cripple them just so they can make a few dollars.
Does your keyboard use drivers?
-
Oct 11, 2016 3:08 PM in response to dialabrainby Bluefurry,I did say "almost like" I know they wouldn't do it on purpose...
If it were the keyboard drivers, then command-click wouldn't work within VMWare would it? The keyboard doesn't use any special drivers other than the USB Keyboard driver included in the underlying system.
Please disregard the snide comment I made and stick with the issue
