Q: Syncing duplicate songs? (since LATEST iOS10 + iTunes)

Long story short, I had to resync my entire music library to my iPhone 6, both UP TO DATE as of THIS DATE. It was until I noticed: Is it just me or iTunes - ever since iOS 10 - syncing duplicate songs of my offline library? I'm looking at my iPhone and noticing on my iTunes it's syncing the exact same song/album again. Is this what's resulting to itunes telling me I have insufficient space to sync my music library when IN FACT I do?If this is a glitch it needs to be resolved ASAP.

I've tested this twice now. Deleted my entire library again only to sync again, eventually telling me that I have insufficient space once agian. And every time I continue each of my syncing sessions, I'd see in the status bar that it's syncing songs that were already synced before, MEANWHILE deleting 1st tracks of randomly selected albums I already synced. I have more than 17GB left and it's saying that syncing my entire library would be 3GB overflow. This is a tedious glitch that really needs to be resolved.

I've followed this up with Apple Support, which took 3 attempts of having to wait one hour after how many sudden hang ups (not by me but Apple - or its system - whichever). The live agent did not understand me so he forwarded all my info (including the issue of custom lyrics not appearing) to an engineer. 'til then, I can not sync my entire music library into my phone otherwise should be capable of.

Is your source library free of duplicates? Are you using either Apple Music or iTunes Match? Have you any issue with the library where you needed to reimport the content?

iTunes assigns each track a unique library ID and uses these references to pass details such as ratings, play counts and playlist membership back and forth. If you remove a track and add it back to the library it will have a different ID, and thus be seen as new content to add to the device. In some cases this can lead iTunes to incorrectly calculate how much space will be needed to sync.

The following steps may help with erratic sync behaviour. They assume that all of the content you want on the device is in your library ready for restoring. If it isn't see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device first. I would also recommend you copy everything out of the camera roll if you haven't already.

    1. Backup device.
    2. Restore as a new device.
    3. Restore the backup you made earlier.

Use an encrypted backup if you want to preserve passwords, wi-fi settings, web history and health data where appropriate.
