    Try a force restart ...

Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

    Thanks for your reply Carolyn.

Yeah. I tried that but it didn't help. Just talked to apple support and they said that this might be because I downloaded iOS 10 upgrade over wifi on phone and I should backup, download the upgrade (which will force it to factory settings) and restore the data. Long process and the last thing I wanted but have to do it now.

This is happening to me and my coworker (iPhone6s+ and iPhone6s). Anyone else solve this problem?

I wiped out the device as per the customer care and then I did following two things -

    1) Installed Outlook app, Authenticator (Microsoft App) and Whatsapp

    2) Removed some of the native apps like stocks, watch, podcasts, home, keynotes, pages and numbers etc but I don't remember all.

Do you've anything common to what I did that might narrow it down?

After Apple support told me to wipe out the data again and not to install any of the apps to check, I don't think this will be resolved very soon and hence trying somethings myself.

Same issue too, I can't seem to screen capture it as the phone (iPhone 6+) appears to be busy doing something. But it's a black screen and the spinning loading graphic in the middle, after 5 seconds or so it seems to come back and ask me to enter pin or fingerprint.

I hope I don't have to restore to factory and restore backup.

Happens to me at least once an hour. Really frustrating and Apple has not been any help in resolving

Bro, I did factory reset and wasted a whole day.

As mentioned in the earlier post, I only installed Installed Outlook app, Authenticator (Microsoft App) and Whatsapp and it still happened and hence I restored it and just to investigate the issue myself, I removed outlook app this time and (hush) touch wood (hush)....it hasn't happened since ..I just it never happens now.

Try to find any app that might be causing this. Don't know if you've outlook app already that you can see and remove.

One more thing that can help is look if there is any app that has loads of notifications all over. My outlook was configured for office mails and there were tons of it in the whole day which might have caused some issue.

Maybe the fix would be to restore it from blank state (format).  Apps should never cause an OS to crash since apps live in an isolated environment. So there is clearly a bug here or bad state when updating phone. i will try to reformat it and see if it resolves it.

Same problem here. Even after full restore via iTunes and backup restore, same issue... Unlock to black screen, with spinner, and loops back to passcode screen. Called Apple and they weren't sure what to do, must be a broader iOS issue as my iPhone 6s is fairly new and its been running great until iOS10. Hoping for a software fix soon as I can't get into anything about 90% of the time. Every once in a while I can get to the home screen, once I get to the home screen everything works great as usual.

Well I tried a full reset via iTunes, then recovered personal data via iCloud backup. I still get the issue. I was optimistic on the recently released 10.0.2 update, but that didn't help either.

So I called Apple support on this and as above was advised the solution is a factory reset, but then to use my iPhone for a day or two to see if the issue repeats itself BEFORE I restore from my backup. For those of you who tried the factory reset option, did any of you then restore from an iTunes (not iCloud) backup? And if so, did the issue repeat before or after you restored from the iTunes backup?

I did a factory reset after 10.0.2 and restored from iTunes and mine still does it at least twice a day. Annoying but at least it doesn't kill the phone altogether, I guess. :/

Any real fix for this? It is annoying and it happens on my iPhone 6 (very often) and also on my iPad Pro.
