Q: Photo albums not syncing on iOS 10

Every time I try to sync my regular photo albums to my iPhone with the newly updated iOS 10, the photos sync but aren't showing in albums.

They show in the photos tab under different dates, but not in the albums section in the appropriate album titles the they are synced with.

Ive never had this problem until updating to iOS 10 today.

Please help! Having these photos sorted into albums is a necessity for me!

iPhone 6, iOS 8.3, null

I had this problem did two things don't know which one fixed it.  On the iPhone - Settings - General - Reset Network Settings.  Reconnected to my Wi-Fi. Went to photos on the iPhone and deleted one picture. After that I was able to sync with iPhone from my Mac. Pic transfer/sync was a success.

This didn't work for me, unfortunately. I'm syncing my iPhone with a Windows 10 computer and have tried all the suggestions in this stream. Under "Albums," I still just get the new (and to me "silly") albums iOS 10 has created, like Selfies, Places, and People, and then misfiled a few photos into each. All the photos are there chronologically which is another useless organization to me. Very frustrating.

So any hints on how to re-establish the Albums I have set up on the Windows computer as folders within the selected folder to synchronize? I didn't quite get the "create another sub-folder" recommendation, or at least I didn't make it work the way I did it.

    Thanks.

It happened again.  Make sure data cable is disconnected before you reset network settings on the iPhone.  Then I deleted one picture before I connected cable to my Mac mini and it started to sync again.  Now I'm updating iTunes and Safari hoping there's other settings will update to communicate to iOS on my iPhone 5.

Thank you for typing this up! The other comments confused me, but this made sense and worked!

I have the same issue - Hello, Apple? - after upgrading to 10.0.1: my photos sync with my iPhone 6 (both phone and Mac software are the latest versions), but the latest albums I have created do not. I'm a little perplexed by the "create bogus albums" workaround, but I'll try it. I am fairly certain this same situation occurred after the last major upgrade to iOS - which caused me to sync from my iPhoto library (worked fine, haven't tried it this time) rather than from Photos

I was unable to have the latest album I'd added to Photos sync with my iPhone 6 after 10.0.1 install. All the other albums did sync, and the photos from that most recent album all were found under "photos" on my iPhone. So I tried the suggestion above: I created a new album in Photos, loaded in all the photos from the "non-sync-able" album, gave it a different title, and then ran the sync process. The duplicate album did not sync, but the original did! Is this crazy or what?

I'm having that problem.  The solution below does not work for me.  There is no album called iPhone.  But if I search on my iPhone for the name of my missing folder it shows up in the search.  My previous problem with OS 10 upgrade was after the first sync, if any single photo on my mac was in more than one album, every album it appeared in showed up as an album on my phone even though I only selected to sync one of the albums.  That problem is gone, but the new problem is what you describe, some of the albums I select to sync to not appear in the list of albums.

none of the solutions anyone wrote out have worked for me unfortunately...

apple better get started on a way to patch this up or else i'm gonna start buying HTC from now on.... what a headache..

i could be doing something else so much more worth while.

extremely disappointed in apple....they continue to try and fix things that aren't broken and end up breaking that thing COMPLETELY.

    extremely dissatisfied customer. smh

I had the same problem but contacted Apple support and they suggested that I install Sierra on my Macbook having installed IOS10 on my iphone and ipad. That solved the issue and my photo albums are now syncing the way they used to.

I dont mean to sound dumb but not sure what you mean about creating subfolders...

I'm just trying to sync an ordinary folder of pictures from my computer onto my phone through iTunes and it says its synced and everything but when I go into my Photos the albums not in there and non of the pictures have copied across at all? Help me please! haha

allisontraceymaree: syncing photos can be very unpredictable. Syncing and syncing and syncing again sometimes just doesn't do what you want. But here's what sometimes seems to work for me: I create an empty folder of pictures in Apple's Photos (and call it "Empty Folder"). I then tell iTunes to sync photos to my iPhone only from that empty folder. When/if that eventually works, you should have no photos at all on your iPhone. After that's done, I'll then select the folder(s) I really want to sync, and then usually the sync seems to work.

I have no idea what is going on to make this work, but I view it as the equivalent of resetting the photos sync. But note that just telling iTunes to sync no photos at all doesn't seem to be as effective - I've had better luck syncing to an empty album.

Good luck, and remember, "It just works!" (Blech.)

Ive had this problem with the last three iOS upgrades.  What's always fixed it for me is to remove the synched folders from the phone (by turning off iTunes photos synch- remember to hit "apply"). Confirm the photos were removed from your phone.  If not, turn synch back on, synch, then turn off and synch again.  Once the photos are off the phone, turn synch back on.

One troubleshooting step is to mark "selected folders" in iTunes.  You should all the subfolders there.  If you don't, this suggestion probably won't fix it.

Robert: what exactly worked for you? I have the near-identical issue with transferring photos from my PC (Windows 7) to my new iPhone using iTunes sync. I take most of my photos with a digital camera and store/organize them on my PC in numerous appropriately titled subfolders. Transferring these pre-organized photo folders to my iDevices has always been simple and successful, until iOS 10 came along...
