Q: Itunes album playing songs in reverse order

Hi everyone,

I have the iTunes version 12.5.1.21 downloaded on my mac and it keeps playing the songs in reverse order.

I tried restarting, and going to view > sort by > ascending, but even then it continues to play in reverse. I even tried putting it in descending but that makes no difference as well.

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

Are you playing the songs from your main iTunes music library list?  From a playlist?

So, if this is for songs on an album, I imagine a list in iTunes (whether main library list or playlist) that shows songs of this album in proper order, track #1 to the last track.  You play the 3rd song of the album.  Are you saying the next song to play is the one above the 3rd song, which is the 2nd song?  That would be "reverse order."

Yes that is correct. I am in albums using the grid view and it would go from song #3 to song #2 right after.

I think it's some bug, because sometimes it will go in descending order then start ascending again without changing the settings.

One thing to check is the Up Next list.  There's a small button along the top of iTunes window with three dots and lines.  It's just to the right of the Now Playing box.  Click that button to drop down the Up Next list.  Click the Clear button.  Try playing songs from the song list now.

Also make sure the Shuffle switch (in the Now Playing box) is not enabled.

Thanks a bunch!! I cleared the Up Next and switched the View > Sort By > to descending and back to ascending, and now it works properly.
