Q: notifications dont' show while on call with bluetooth

Hi there,

Noticing with iOS 10 that if I am on a call and using my blue tooth headset, incoming notifications do not show on the lock screen.  I hear the notification sound, and the screen lights up, but the notification is not there.  i have to swipe down or unlock to see the incoming text.  With iOS 9, the notification was on the lock screen whether I was on a call or not.    This is a minor nuisance, but it is a nuisance.  Anyone else noticed this?  Any chance of getting this fixed?

    Hello orangemartini,

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities. I know having an issue with notifications is not what you expect. Based on what you stated, it seems you may be having issues with notifications when on phone call over Bluetooth. The good news is these steps should help resolve this issue and get your iPhone working the way you need it.

    1. First, check your notifications settings to confirm they are correct for your situation. Then, restart your device, as the shut down and start up process is important to keep the iOS software running properly. Once your iPhone has restarted, test your issue over Bluetooth, with wired headphones, and while using speakerphone.

    2. If your issue is still not resolved, the next step is to make a backup of your personal data and Reset All Settings from Settings > General > Reset on your device. This resets all of your device’s settings like Wallpaper, Sounds, Display & Brightness, Background App Refresh, Date & Time, and removes all of your previously used Wi-Fi networks and passwords.

I have this same issue, even with my standard Apple wired earbuds that came with the phone - this issue is not related just to bluetooth.

If I'm on the phone and I get a text message, my phone lights up, but no notification appears on the lock screen. It just looks like the phone is randomly lighting up. But this only happens when I am taking a call - any other time the message shows up on the lock screen. My notification settings are set properly because it works any other time I'm not on the phone.

This is quite annoying because I'm on the phone a lot at work and never have any idea why my phone is lighting up or who could be texting me.
