Q: IOS 10 Update - Passcode & Fingerprint Disabled

Has anyone else updated to the new IOS10?

I'm running a new iPad Pro 9.7 128gb

I just updated to IOS10

Once finished, I went through the new Welcome.

my iPad locked after leaving it for a minute, I then went to unlock it, it said click the home button to open

no passcode or fingerprint scan required.

I went into settings and checked the passcode option, it is enabled. (it asked me for the passcode to access this feature)

I saw the fingerprint scans, they were still there.

I then deleted both fingerprints and deleted the passcode.

I restarted my iPad and then went back into settings and enabled passcode and added fingerprints

i locked my iPad.

I then pressed the home button to turn it on so i could unlock it.

it then said press the home button to unlock, no passcode or fingerprint scan required.

Is this an issue that has been overlooked on the new IOS10?

iPad Pro, iOS 10

Are you using the fingerprint scan which is recorded on the iPad?

Thought I had the same problem. Tried another fingerprint which is not recorded and it would bring up the passcode. Took it, the home button is  automatically  recognising  the figure print.

Interesting what others have to say.

If you think that there's a security problem here, that's not the case.  When you click the Home button it is reading your fingerprint to unlock.  You can prove this to yourself by doing the same steps, but use a non-registered finger to click the Home button.

Also, new in iOS 10 is this requirement to click the Home button to initiate the fingerprint scan.  Before, if your iPhone was locked but the screen was on you could unlock it by just resting your finger on the Home button.  In iOS 10 the default is for you to click the Home button, even though the screen is already awake.  You can change this behavior in Settings, go to Settings> General> Accessiblity> Home Button> Rest Finger to Open> ON.  Doing this will make unlocking behave more like iOS 9.

MY home button does not gave the 'rest finger to open' option.  I'm sure I downloaded the same iOS 10 as everyone else but this feature is not in my settings...now what?

What version of iPhone do you have?  Does it even have a fingerprint scanner?  If you have a 5S or later, and iOS 10, the setting should be there.

    ***TRIGGER WARNING FOR STUPID***

    I have the 5S phone which I haven't updated yet...it will work, I'm sure.

What I was inquiring about is my iPad...my 2014 iPad Air...which does NOT support fingerprint security....hence the stupid warning.  So used to just swiping on the iPad and using fingerprint scanner on my phone that I conflated the two.  Thanks for responding and outing me .  LOL

Yes i had already pre-recorded both fingerprint and passcode in the ipad before the upgrade and it was working fine.

I found the issue and reported it to apple support, the security feature had been disabled in the update.

They will re-enable it on the next update.
