Q: can't drag and drop into home videos
Instead of simply drag and drop into iTunes Home Videos I now have to use the import files or folder option. After I do this the DVD shows in iTunes and seems okay. However when I close iTunes later and then reopen next the movie is not in the list or anywhere else I can think of to look. It is still on the HD in the media file. In order to transfer to my iPad I have to import it again and do the transfer before I close iTunes. why? I have just done a complete uninstall and reinstall of iTunes and its components today but still the same issue.
Windows 7 64 bit.
iTunes is on C drive SSD
Library is on D drive HDD
Windows 7

Try Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows just in case there is something hokey going on.
Make sure any anti-virus software is excluded from real-time scanning of the iTunes library and media folders.
See Make a split library portable for some advice on library layout and your device backups.
