Q: My iMessage has been hacked

I went into the messages app on my computer recently and found out that more than 20 messages had been sent. The messages were all to Chinese numbers, and the messages in Chinese. Screen Shot 2016-03-07 at 23.36.11.png

Has anyone experienced the same? is my account hacked?

    Hi,

Level 6 Posters can access the Lounge where there is greater contact with the Hosts (Moderators)

There is a forum for directly posting to the Hosts and it can be tagged "New Technical Issues".

I have posted there to bring this to their attention.

I did this yesterday (my time) and have yet to see a reply (sometimes you get s "thank you for posting" to say someone has at least read it).

I had this exact same issue.   At first I thought they got my login information from the recent Yahoo hack but that is when I realized my passwords for Apple and Yahoo are completely different.   Looking at https://haveibeenpwned.com I realized that LinkedIn was hacked way back in 2012 but in May 2016 the information was finally decoded and sold on the darkweb.   My Apple and LinkedIn login/password were exactly the same.  So I'm pretty sure that is how they got my information to send 100+ messages out for Macau gambling from a Mac Pro Book 13" named "macen".    Once I changed my password everything returned back to normal.   But I did have to change it a second time as Apple warned me there were too many login attempts on my account once again and I should change again.

This just happened to me also, I've not purchased anything or resubmitted my password for anythin besides the new iOS upgrade a few days ago but in the 45 minutes they had access to my iMessage they sent 100+ iMessages out to numbers in China. I did lock up all of my accounts since I bank via apps and plan on alerting them once they open just to be safe. Even if it's only iMessageses, this is still unnerving.

I had version 9.3.5 and this happened to me 9/28/16. My iMessage was accessed by a MacBook Air, which wasn’t mine. I found 20+ texts that were being sent out from my phone with Chinese characters. I deleted all the messages and changed and strengthened my Apple ID password twice, and updated my security questions. I called Apple and told them to watch out for suspicious account activity. I also requested  the "Two-Step Verification" for an extra level of security, but there’s a 2-3 day delay on setting that up.

Here are Apple’s instructions on how to help fix the issue:

This just happened to me, and now I can't use iMessage (only SMS). Have any of you that weren't able to use iMessage after the hack been able to fix the problem? What was the solution?

I had the exact same thing happen just now. Unauthorized log-in from a new iPod Touch, and over 30 text messages that look exactly like the screen shot in this thread. I change apple id / security questions and blocked #'s / deleted them. I hope apple comes up with an answer.

I'd like to join this unfortunate club. Happened to me earlier this afternoon; around 100 messages sent from/to a +85 number. Changed all info and passwords available. My iMessage is not working either, like many of the rest of you.  Will follow this for updates.... C'mon Apple. Not cool. =(

This happened to me as well this morning... Received a notification my iMessage account had been accessed using my Apple ID and Phone Number from a Macbook Air 7,2.  About 30 or so of the Chinese message came though as having been sent from my phone.  Logged out of Messages on my laptop and changed my Apple ID password.  It stopped after that.  Hopefully nothing else is compromised.

Although polls are technically banned on the Discussion Boards  info on Country  and or Time Zones might be more useful.

I doubt it can be pinned down to somewhere in Florida though.

I get an Apple email notification that my Apple ID has been accessed via a Mac I don't own or know. Very weird so I immediately change my password. After which the message u received, features in my imessage. Two days later Apple advises that "too many devices" have accessed my Apple ID and that I change my password again. Hope these annoying ******** get caught! Attached is the screenshotimage.png

I had this happen today.  Does anyone know if the 100 or so messages sent to China will result in data or other charges?
