Q: Podcasts are not being updated properly

I recently noticed that my Podcasts are not being updated properly. Here's what I saw:

  1. On my iPhone, when I refresh the Podcast app, new unplayed podcasts will not show up. However, in iTunes on my Mac, the unplayed podcasts do show up.
  2. On my iPhone, played podcasts are not being deleted after 24 hours, I had to delete them manually. Again, on the Mac, this was not the case.

I'm on iOS 10.0.2 and macOS Sierra. Have any of you guys experienced the same, and is there a fix?

Thanks in advance

Thamara

Up until the recent macOS update to Sierra I was also having this problem. For months it would hang while trying to update. The software was running but the status wheel kept spinning (new content manually verified). I was pleased that, within the past week, the updates started flowing like they used to. I figured the 9/13 update to iTunes fixed something but the "repair" was more recent than that. So... something on Apple's back end?

Oddly, since last night (9/29) and this morning (9/30) all my podcast subscriptions vanished. No documented updates have happened since 9/22 though (Numbers, et al). Another back end fix that hit me in my back end?

I had to go back in and re-subscribe to everything and was then forced to manually change the default settings (I like chronological order, so have to reverse the defaults of newest on top and auto-delete).

Start troubleshooting by Resetting your iPhone. If that doesn't help, try turning turning Off and On your subscription and delete settings. The final method is to unsubscribe, then resubscribe to the Podcasts.

    - Reset: hold down the Home and Power buttons until you see the Apple logo (10-15 seconds).

I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 10.0.2 and I just started having the same problem today.

It will download episodes already in the feed but not refresh the "Unplayed" feed with new episodes.

I tried resetting the iPhone and unsubscribing/resubscribing to the podcasts but it didn't work.

All my other apps are working fine and the WiFi connection is working fine also.

I don't sync my podcasts to my Macbook so it has nothing to do with Sierra.

I am having a similiar issue - none of my subscribed podcasts are downloading new episodes as of this morning (Monday, Oct 3rd). I'm running iOS 10.0.2 on an iPhone 6. I actually published a podcast myself that releases on Monday mornings. It's showing elsewhere (like on Stitcher and Google Play) just not in iTunes/Podcasts.

Tried them all but it didn't help. An hour later it suddenly started working (after one month !)
