Oct 2, 2016 9:26 AM in response to huff825by eightzero,FWIW, my Apple tech support person did confirm it had been reported to the engineering teams; and that she expected a future OS update to fix it. Something is in the works.

Oct 11, 2016 9:13 AM in response to eightzeroby drjwr,We'll see: The oddity of my watch problem is that the very significant battery drain did not happen until I switched from Apple Watch Series 0 (so to say) to Apple Watch Series 1, each running OS 3. While my first Apple Watch (OS 3) would finish a day with 50% battery or more, after 12 to 16 hours at the hospital, the Series 1 ends at about 15%, with exactly the same setup on the watch.

Oct 13, 2016 6:26 PM in response to drjwrby Tornadogirl,Update on Apple Watch battery issue...sent AW in to get looked at and Apple completely replaced it. I've set it up again, but then realized that the watch is on OS 2.2.2. I think I am going to leave it as-is for now until they get the battery issue resolved on OS 3. There is nothing that compelling that I NEED OS 3 for! PLUS, I can track my battery life to make sure the all-day battery life pre-OS 3 wasn't a figment of my imagination.

Oct 14, 2016 4:36 PM in response to falloutgirl91by Deb Shofner,I upgraded to the Series 1, 38mm a week ago. By the evening, the battery is drained! I have unpaired it a few times and then re-paired, to no avail! I still have my original Apple Watch, also running OS3 and no problems with the battery. I hope Apple comes out with a fix soon!

Oct 15, 2016 3:07 PM in response to Deb Shofnerby eightzero,One more data point: I stopped using the workout app, and my battery life returned to pre-watchOS3 levels. I decided to test it again today. A 30 minute outdoor walk burned 10% of the battery: from 94% pre workout to 84% post workout. Pretty clear then that it is the workout app doing this.
This prohibits the use of AW as a fitness tracker. No one wants a 5 hour limit. Given this function is a premier feature of the AW, it is still surprising to me that Apple has not yet issued a fix for this bug.
I have forced quit the workout app. I'm sort of curious to see if the battery drain continues. If so, I'll try a restart. That seems to have stopped it in the past.
