Q: itunes for windows wont install
Latest update to itunes did not or will not install. Get errors installing. TBH I've tried so many solutions that I forget if the following was the original errors. But doesnt matter ... this is what is happening.
Windows 10 PC. I've tried most solutions I have found. Gone through solutions offerred in HT204275. So I've uninstalled itunes, and its related components and services (software update, mobile device support, bonjour, and application support 32&64). And removed folders etc. Rebooted, rebooted into safe mode etc etc. Same errors.
1. error getting file security C:\ ..... \kdrl\GetLastError:5
2. Failed to start services.
3. repeat of 1.
I've also tried installing component by component after opening itunes6464setup.exe in winrar.
Basically it gives me the - error getting file security. after trying to install apple application support. both 32 and 64.
Moving on to Mobile Device Support I selected and tried both repair and install. Regardless it gves me a failed to start service error. I've tried to start manually, wont start. But it says the software (mobiledevicesupport) installed okay lol. Oh next is Bonjour it installs okay, whoopee. I move on to itunes itself 6464.exe. Goes full circle to the application support error.
I also tried the solution of adding permissions in a file that i can not recall now. Also used windows install cleanup utility.
I'm at a loss. What bothers me too is I subscribed to itunes in icloud and itunes match. good luck getting a refund lol

Congrats/ it worked. Not sure why I didn't delete that file earlier. I guess its part of the process of using uninstall and not deleted files random.
It installed okay, and iTunes has opened. I unchecked the option of updating itunes and apple software at the install start. I did get an error mind you, which I've copied below. But as I said it did co0ntinue the install and so far so good.
Here's the error.
Thanks again
