Q: Download photos for offline viewing

Hi,

is there some way to store photos for offline viewing?

I really like iCloud Photo Library, as I can access everything all the time. On the other hand I cannot tell iOS to store photos offline. Sometimes I want to have a dedicated set of photos to show and I would like to load them onto the device while on wifi. Usually I know which photos I am going to show and this would save me a lot of troubles while having bad reception. Also it would prevent consuming lots of data from my plan...

btw: I know that liked photos will be stored, but this is not an option for a few thousand photos...

Best Regards

There is no way to store a certain number of photos by themselves. Also, for the record, there is no way to upload photos to iCloud via cellular.

You can only store photos locally when not on a WiFi network.

I'm ok with waiting for the upload of photos taken with my iPhone until I have WiFi again. As long as I don't have WiFi I'm also not at my laptop, so I won't miss them.

But I take a lot of photos with my DSLR, I usually load them into Photos on my Mac and access them on my iPhone for showing them to other people.

A lot of programs have similar functionality although much less data transfer is caused (Apple Music?, Spotify, Podcast apps etc.).
