Q: Unable to get past the lock screen

Both me and my wife are unable to get past the lock screen today. This is an iphone 6s and iphone 7 both running iOS 10. Happened simultaneously when we got home in the evening. When we enter the passcode, the screen freezes/hangs. Then about a minute later it looks like the phone is rebooting or UI is rebooting. then back to the lock screen. This is insane. I feel like we're hacked! Is this happening to anyone else?? Both of us have no access to our phones!!

iPhone 7, iOS 10.0.1

    Hi

Try a reboot press & hold power button & menu button on iPhone 6s

Hold both down until you see apple logo

On iPhone 7 you press& hold power button down& both volume buttons  until you see

    Apple logo .

If you & your wife share the same apple ID you each need your own apple ID

    Cheers

    Brian

    Hi Brian,

Didnt know about the new to reboot the iphone 7, thanks for this. I've just done the reboot, it asks me to enter passcode and again the screen hangs, then a minute later the little busy icon in the middle and then lock screen again... sheesh. Wife's phone got unlocked though! We have separate apple IDs. She's able to use her 6s now. I'm still in trouble

    Hi

Try reboot 3/4 times then if it doesn't work .

You need to contact  support .apple.com

Or take iPhone back  to place of purchase .

    Cheers

    Brian

Went to the apple store today but I think I was too late. All their geniuses had left for the day and there were just some sales people asking me to try restarting the phone... pff.. I finally managed to get out of this mess myself. The way I did it was to keep using the fingerprint scanner twice a second while the phone was in the hung state and the busy icon was doing its thing. When the UI restarted, it got unlocked. Finally... what a mess.. this is just buggy code from apple as far as I can see... please test the code properly before releasing!!!
