Q: Error Photo Transfer from iPhone to Mac

Dear all,

I synchronized my iphone today with my Mac through the app "Photos" in order to save and classified my photos.

Unfortunately, it appears that many of my photos have been "cut" and lost their initial quality

See an example attached. Grey lines appeared and the picture looks as duplicated.

This happened in similar ways to many of my uploaded pictures.

Thanks a lot for your assistance.

How exactly did you sync the phone? It may work to try again

    hello

I started directly from Photos with upload of all my pictures (+ option to delete then from the iphone)

Upload went through and all my pictures have been removed from iPhone and loaded into the Mac.

Then i usually place them into my différents album.

Everything took place normally except that tens of pictures are impacted as described.

so i cannot upload again the pictures as i selected the option to delete them fro iphone after the first upload.

I did try to synchronize again and all the pictures impacted, which are now in various albums, have been copied to my iphone with the grey lines and bad quality as described.

i really don't know what to do and i'm really disappointed.

    Thanks for your assistance

Where is your Photos Library stored?  In your Pictures folder or on an external drive?

All items with the exclamation point seem to be videos, but the duration is just "0:00".  The corrupted photos look like corrupted JPEG previews.  This can because by missing original image files. Test, if Photos can edit or export the images. double click a greyed ot thumbnail to enlarge the photo. Does that work?  If not, try "File <> Export".

if the images are truly missing, check the Photos Preferences.  Is the "Photos > Preferences > General" option "Importing: Copy items into the Photos Library" still enabled as it should be?

    Thanks for your help

    - Yes, items missing are the videos.

    - I tried all the checks your mentioned. See print screen attached.

Corrupted photos can be both edited and exported. They even look different once exported (still corrupted)

Preferences are in line with requirements.

Run Disk Utility:  First aid to check your system drive if there is a problem, perhaps bad disk blocks.

Either your photos have already been corrupted on the iPhone, or the transfer did not work , or there is a problem on the Mac.

i tried the disk utility and it did not change anything.

That as a test, not a fix. Did Disk Utility report any disk errors?

Corrupted photos can be both edited and exported. They even look different once exported (still corrupted)

That is a typical JPEG corruption, the way it looks. The image files have not been downloaded completely, or parts of the JPEG cannot be read because of a problem with the file or the disk, for example bad disk blocks. There is no way to repair the damaged files. It is a pity, that you deleted them from the iPhone. ou could try data recovery software on the iPhone. But this kind of software is expensive. Try to find a software that has a free trial version, so you can see, if the images can be recovered before you buy it.

The next time  you import photos from a card or your iPhone do not delete the photos directly when importing, sight unseen. Wait, until you have checked the, if they can be edited and exported, and have made the first backup. Only then remove them from the device. It is safer.
