Q: warranty

I purchased my Mac Pro (MF839LL/A) on September 20, 2015 and on September 26, 2016 I received a report (I still have a picture of it) showing problem details and system configuration and then the computer went down.  I tried resetting the NVRAM.  Unfortunately, it did not work and the computer either shut down or lost power.

I have Geek Squad protection and they told me that they did not have the capability to help me as the it appeared that either the battery was bad or the entire mother board needed to be replaced.  I have to approve for it to be sent out, to who I am assuming Apple.  Am I really out of luck on any help because of the report six days outside of my one year warranty?  I have switched all my devices to Apple and this is heartbreaking if it's true.

    Unfortunately, that's how warranties work. Officially.

    Contact Apple support directly. Start with the link on your warranty document, or Contact Us at the bottom of this page. Be nice, ask for a supervisor, and perhaps you'll get someone with a sympathetic ear.

    You should also...

    1. Read carefully what the Best Buy warranty really covers;

    2. Run, or get from an Apple Store, hardware and software diagnostics, to find out what's really wrong with your Mac.

    The issue might be simpler to resolve than it now appears!
