Q: Wireless iPad Mini doesn't connect to Wifi

Wireless iPad mini (iOS 9.3.5) won't connect to home wifi but android phone & printer will. Did all resets on iPad and mydlink router.

Steps taken:

Wifi connected in Apple store - Rep suggested I do a backup, then a Restore iPad at home.

Results:

Cannot turn off Find My iPad / "verification failed: there was an error connecting to the Apple ID server."

Several attempts made, issue continues.

Looking for suggestions.

    Hi RubyBlu,

I see that you're posting here in the Apple Support Communities because your iPad mini is having problems connecting to your Wi-Fi network at home. You've since spoken to someone at the Apple Store who told you to try restoring your device using iTunes, but you're unable to disable Find My iPad to be able to do this. I know it's important to be able to connect to Wi-Fi at home, and I'm happy to help out with this.

As a first step, I'd recommend taking a look at this website and perform these steps in order if you have not tried them already:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won’t connect to a Wi-Fi network - Apple Support

If you're still looking to restore your device back to factory settings, I'd recommend double checking to make sure you have a current back up first. Here is a resource for that if you need a refresher on how to create a back up:
How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Before you can restore your iPad, you'll need to follow the instructions here to disable the Find My feature for your iPad:

Remove an iOS device or Mac on which you can’t turn off Find My iPhone

If you can’t turn off Find My iPhone on the device, turn off the device so it goes offline, then remove it from Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.

Note: You can also remove your iOS device by first erasing it—just follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you don’t have. You can later restore the device from an iCloud or iTunes backup.

    1. Turn off the device you want to remove.

    2. Go to Find My iPhone on iCloud.com.

If you don’t see Find My iPhone on iCloud.com, your account just has access to iCloud web-only features. To gain access to Find My iPhone and other iCloud features, set up iCloud on your iOS device or Mac.

    3. Click All Devices, select the offline device, then click Remove from Account.

      Remove from Account button

If you don’t see Remove from Account, click All Devices again, then click the Delete button  next to the device.

If the device comes online again, it reappears in Find My iPhone. If your device reappears, turn off Find My iPhone on the device (follow the instructions above for removing a device by turning off Find My iPhone), or if it’s an iOS device and you no longer have it, follow the instructions below for removing an iOS device you no longer have.

iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone

After you've selected "Remove from Account", you should be able to restore the device normally using iTunes.

    Take care!

Hi Brenden, I'm away until Friday and left my iPad @ home. When I'm back I'll go through your instructions and let you know how everything goes!

When I got home I found that my iPad seemed to be detecting wifi, although intermittently. Trying not to speculate why at the moment.
