Oct 2, 2016 9:14 PM in response to thatqueenbeeby Reddgroom,★HelpfulMy understanding is that after you download (import) all your photos to your computer's hard drive, they will be saved there. It is safe to "delete" them from your phone (or ipad) and they will stay on your computer hard drive. If you use the icloud photo stream, they will stay there and you can access them all from your device without haveing them saved on your device. The only place they will disappear from is your Camera Roll. Think of it like unloading a roll of film and putting a fresh blank roll of film in. If you choose to leave them on your phone - you can maintain a log of very picture you ever took... but eventually this will take up a lot of space. Another way to do this is just to use the icloud photostream. It only holds 1000 of the last photos you took, but that's usually enough recent items to carry around with you every where you go. If you clear the camera roll every time you import, then you can add only the photos you want on your phone by clicking to boxes off the albums, events, people or places list in ITunes and re-syncing your phone.... At least thats what I have discovered after many years of using my iphone camera and iTunes. I have never found an official answer from Apple for this, and don't really know why they even ask that in the first place.
