I understand that you've noticed dark spots in a number of areas on your MacBook Pro's display. I can certainly understand why you'd be curious about them, and possibly concerned about your Mac's display. Before troubleshooting, you may want to make sure you have a current backup of your Mac, if you haven't done so recently. A simple and effective way to back up to an external hard drive is with Time Machine (Use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac).
In order to determine the cause of these spots, a good place to start is booting from macOS Recovery. In order to do so, shut down your Mac, then turn the computer on holding down Command (⌘)-R, releasing when you see the Apple logo (Startup key combinations for Mac). If you still see the gray spots then your MacBook Pro may require hardware service: Mac notebook Service Answer Center
However, should the dots fail to appear while booted to OS X Recovery, try starting up your Mac and holding down the Shift key immediately after you hear the startup tone (macOS Sierra: Start up in safe mode) to prevent items such as startup and login items from launching automatically. If the dots are still present in safe mode, the next step would be to reinstall macOS by booting back to macOS Recovery (with Command (⌘)-R) and selecting Reinstall macOS (or Reinstall OS X , depending on the version currently installed). You can install macOS over the same version or earlier version, without removing your data. You don’t need to remove or disable the existing system first.
- Choose Reinstall macOS (or Reinstall OS X) from the utilities window, then follow the onscreen instructions.
This installs the latest version of macOS that was previously installed on your Mac.
