Q: iPhone 7 restore from iCloud taking forever

Hello, I have a new iPhone 7. I had recently backed up my old iPhone 6 and wanted to restore the new iPhone 7 from my iCloud back-up. I began the restore process the day I got my phone and it has now been two weeks and is still apparently restoring. I often have my phone plugged in and charging and connected to very good WiFi connection but the restore hasn't completed yet. I have new iOs updates that need to be installed but that can't happen until the restore is completed. What should I do? When I examine my phone, it appears that I am not missing any information. Any suggestions?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2.1

Is it saying that it is restoring from backup on your Lock Screen, so that is what is indicating to you that it has not completed?

Do you have the option to Stop the Restore process when you go to Settings>iCloud>Backup? If so, then stop it. It could be an app that has not completely downloaded, or some other media that has not downloaded yet. I have had my iPhone do that once in awhile, and like you, could see nothing that wasn't restored. Maybe it just gets stuck saying that it is restoring even though it is actually finished. A restore from backup shouldn't take more than a couple of hours at the very most.

If you don't see a way to Stop the Restore, then reset your device: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the reset is complete, the Lock screen will display.

    Cheers,
