Q: iPhone 5 update to ios10

My iPhone is stuck on iOS 9.2.1. The phone is saying there is an update, but when I click on software update - it tells me my software is up to date. Can anyone help?

MacBook Pro, iOS 6.1.2

Try resetting your device then see if you can do the update: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the reset is complete the Lock screen will display. See if you can then do the update.

You also may not have enough available memory to do the update OTA, so you should try updating via iTunes if you cannot get it to work OTA.

Hi - thanks. Just tried the reset - but it hasn't worked. Do I connect to iTunes via my laptop?

Just connected to my laptop and it's still saying that my software is up to date.

Yes. Here's a quick guide that may help:

    Update your device using iTunes

    1. Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
    2. Connect your device to your computer.
    3. Open iTunes and select your device.
    4. Click Summary, then click Check for Update.
    5. Click Download and Update.
    6. If asked, enter your passcode.

    Best of luck,
