Oct 2, 2016 12:46 PM in response to Angus Podgorneyby AKRBTN,I'm guessing that Edit button sits immediately underneath the last widget. So if you have no widgets active it's going to be in the middle of the screen ready for the user to add widgets. If you've cleared all the widgets I'm not sure why you'd be going there anyway.

Oct 3, 2016 2:56 AM in response to AKRBTNby g1namar1e,He/she is asking because with the new IOS upgrade, when you swipe to open, the widgets come up before the home screen which is VERY annoying! How can I get the widget option away and go directly to the home screen when I swipe to open? Thanks!

Oct 7, 2016 9:02 AM in response to g1namar1eby jdgva1988,Yes, I've been searching for this too. I want to entirely remove the widget screen. People keep asking for help with that and Apple keeps answering about how to remove individual widgets. I seems like they don't provide a way to remove the screen because they assumed we'd want it.

Oct 7, 2016 5:46 PM in response to Angus Podgorneyby faetos,I searched everywhere as well with no luck. Please give us the ability to turn this off. My wife hates it and I'd like to remove it since I am stuck troubleshooting her phone every time you all want to change things. No wonder there is only 1 iPhone in our home.

Oct 8, 2016 11:02 AM in response to Angus Podgorneyby RainshadowCoast,Unfortunately, Apple is not listening. This seems to be getting worse all the time. Let me explain the problem:
It does not matter to me whether screen is locked or not. Personally, I do not use the lock screen. The issue is that many users like to have a clear page on their home screen where they place a personal photo. I've done this with my iPhone for about 10 years. Now there is a big edit button right in the middle of my girlfriends face. I want that edit button gone! Why bother to put up a home screen photo if it is covered with buttons, edits, day and date and widgets?
So, once more, to make this absoluely clear, We don't want ANY widgets or notifications on that page, including the day and date. If anyone knows how to remove that big round edit button from my previous, widget free home page, that would be fantastic. What an annoying and disappointing upgade...

Oct 8, 2016 11:22 AM in response to Angus Podgorneyby Steven Rosenberg1,Hey, this is most of your solution: swipe left to the second screen; there's no edit button on your girlfriend/baby/dog/cat there.

Oct 8, 2016 12:45 PM in response to Steven Rosenberg1by RainshadowCoast,Hi Steve, unfortunately that solution does not work on my iPhone 6S. I tried that solution before I made my post. I just tried it again. When I sweep left as far as I can go I am still left with a huge round edit button over my girlfriend's face and a day date indicator. None of these things are items I want on my phone. I should point out that your solution worked fine on my iPhone 5s but not with this new ISO 10 upgrade.
It is a complete mystery to me why Apple would think anyone would want an edit button on their home screen.

With iOS 10 you no longer Swipe to Open. You press the Home button. If you have Touch ID enabled your finger on the Home button will unlock the iPhone. If Touch ID is not enabled clicking the Home button will bring up the Passcode entry screen.
Swiping on an unlocked iPhone allows you to see those Widgets that you want. If you don't want any widget displayed there is no need to swipe.

Oct 8, 2016 1:22 PM in response to Ralph9430by RainshadowCoast,Ralph, you the man!
Okay here is what I had to do to fix this problem because this new upgrade deletes the clear screen.
1 - move my widgets from screen 3 to new screen 4
2 - move my widgets from screen 2 to screen 3
3 - move my widgets from screen 1 to screen 2
4 - do as Ralph says, and just click on your home screen button.
5 - Oh, and lastly, I deleted that annoying Home icon that came with the upgrade. Now if I could just get rid of the new bed time reminder from the clock icons and delete that entire edit screen. Thanks Apple for yet another annoying upgrade. I sure miss Steve Jobs...

Oct 8, 2016 8:23 PM in response to Angus Podgorneyby amr-asem,The new iOS 10.0.2 is different than previous versions.
To unlock the screen simply click the home button twice, (rather than swiping to unlock), this will take you to the home screen directly, and you will not see the edit button.
To change the speed at which you should click the home button to unlock your screen: ->Settings->General->Accessibility->Home Button-> Click Speed->(Select: Default or Slow or Slowest).
