Q: iOS 10 login slow

Since updating to iOS 10 (I have 10.0.2) on my iPhone 6, logging into the phone has turned into a major event.  It's painfully slow.  Just putting my thumb on the start button for recognition takes several times the length of time that it used to.  Then it waits in a loop for awhile before letting me see the icon screen.  If I press any buttons out of impatience, the screen can go black.  It's nearly impossible to hang up the phone after talking awhile as it's so difficult to log back in.  Is anyone else having similar problems?

Try these general steps. They could help.

    1. Reset your iPhone by pressing and holding Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.

    2. Sign out from your iCloud account and sign back in again.

HI Ella - resetting the phone helped, thank you.  But the screen unlock process is still slow compared to ios9.  And the phone still exhibits unacceptable behavior coming out of apps such as iMessage, such as a black screen, after the screen lock period passes.

Try to deativate the notifications for Mail. And now the unlocking process is fast as ever...

If you only have one mail account my guess is, that you don't know this issue. But in my case (five accounts) the unlocking process is slow as he.. But with the "work around" from above it works.

But hey, deactivating the Mail notifications shouldn't be the solution...

@Apple: can you evaluate this error?

Thanks, P@t.  Your suggestion works.  Turned off all notifications for Mail and got my phone back.  Feels normal now.  Can hang up the phone again in a timely fashion after the lock screen appears.  Agree that having to disable features to fix an upgrade doesn't feel like an upgrade.  @Apple, are you listening?
