Q: Pairing Bluetooth headphones with Apple Watch series 2?

Hoping someone here has some good ideas so I can avoid having to go to the mall/Apple Store!

Bought a series 2 watch on launch day, immediately tried to pair it with the bluetooth headphoens I had (AvierBTE somethings). No luck. Thought maybe I just had bad headphones--but they still pair to my iphone 6s. Bought a pair of Mswift Pow headphones off amazon, and at the same time borrowed a friend's bluetooth headphones that pair with his original Apple watch. Neither my Mswifts nor his headphones will pair with my watch, though both pair with my iphone.

My watch DOES pair with my amazon echo--so I know the bluetooth works.

The watch finds the headphones when in discovery mode, but when I try to pair it gives an error and says it can't pair, check that the device is on, in range, etc.

Has anyone else had problems like this and managed to find a solution?

    Hi

Check that you are following the pairing instructions here:

Use Bluetooth accessories with your Apple Watch - Apple Support

It may help to unpair your headphones from your iPhone (or any other device that they may already be paired with) before pairing them to your watch.

It may also help, when trying to pair your headphones with your watch, to move both devices to a different location, away from any other Bluetooth devices that may be active.

    Thanks for the recommendations!

I've combed through the official pairing instructions a few times, no luck finding something that works.

I should have said--I have unpaired the headphones from all other bluetooth devices before trying with my watch again. I just walked outside (away from any possible bluetooth device) and tried to pair again. No luck

I have the exact same issue. I put my VTIN Gourami headphones into pairing mode and Bluetooth on the phone sees them but when I try to pair I get an error message saying to move the headphones into range or into pairing mode.

This exact same process works flawlessly with my iPhone 6. I have tried unpairing the phone and then pairing the headphones. i have shut off the phone bluetooth and moved away ... nothing works. So the watch can see the device but cannot complete the pairing. It is definitely something between the watch and the headphones.

Those earphones pair perfectly with my series 1 apple watch

ONCE i was able to pair the samsung earphones - but the connection was super spotty and then it disconnected -

since then i wasnt able to pair at all - and no reboot etc helps

I was having the same issue with Jaybird Bluebuds X, which pair fine with all other Apple devices -- the Watch saw the headphones, but couldn't connect. I powered off the Watch, started it up again, and then they paired successfully.

Hope that works for you all, too.

I also had success when I rebooted the phone and had my phone's Bluetooth off now it seems both are paired. The headphones do want to connect with the phone first over the Watch, but that's OK with me.

I was able to finally get my headphones to pair by rebooting my watch first. Not ideal, but I guess it'll work for now. I found the solution on reddit...
