Q: iOS 10 mail issues

Running on iPad 4 (MD512LL/A)

I've had the Mail application crash a few times. No pattern yet.

On the iPad, where are the arrows or button to move to the next message?  On my phone, the

and back butttons appear at the top.  But on the iPad, there appears to be no way to move to

tthe next message without going back the the message list.

My girlfriend's iPhone 5c developed this problem today, the Mail icon disappeared. We downloaded the Mail app again, and re-entered the logon details for her Yahoo! account.

The phone gave a message saying the account was already active on the phone. When we tapped on the Mail icon, it took us to the "Select Your Provider" screen.

This is how I solved the problem. Go to Settings; scroll down to Mail and tap icon; tap on Accounts.

On the next screen there is a listing of the email accounts active on the iPhone. When I opened it and tapped on the Yahoo! account, there was a list of functions associated with the account, including Mail. The slider next to Mail was grey and set to Off. I slid the bar to On, it showed the green bar. I backed out of the menus and as I did so mail began to arrive.

I repeated switching on Mail for the other accounts stored on her iPhone.

    Hope this works for you.

An Apple Support Senior Adviser had no solution for the problem when I spoke with them yesterday and told me it was being referred to their engineers. I'm also seeing other Apps crash with IOS 10.0.2 so am beginning to suspect the problem is a lot bigger than just Mail. Remember the good old days when people used to say "Apple is so much bettet than other operating systems because it always works" - well, that adage is dead and buried.
