Q: iOS 10 music start/stop times messed up

I'm running an iPhone SE 64gb with iOS 10. Many songs in my iTunes library have certain stop/start times, but after updating, they're all mixed up. Songs either don't start or stop when they're supposed to, or they'll start/stop at a random time, which is annoying. The same problem was in the beta, causing me to backup to iOS 9. I assumed this bug would be fixed in the final release. Any solutions besides deleting and re-downloading my library?

    Hello Carnage1215,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Community. I understand your music has been having some issues and I'd like to help. By the sounds of things your songs are starting either delayed or in the middle of the song, is that correct?

Before we do too much troubleshooting it's a good idea to make a backup of your iPhone if you have not already. If you are unsure of how to back up your phone this article will walk you through the process : How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Once you've made a backup I would recommend resetting all settings on your iPhone. This will ensure that any old setting data from previous versions of iOS are removed and reset to default. This does not remove any data like apps, photos or contacts, but It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do Not Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Touch ID, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy, so you may have to set those things back up after this reset.

To do this please go to Settings >  General > Reset > Reset All Settings.

If you are still running into the same behavior after your phone restarts, please let the community know. We're all here to help.
    Best regards.

That didn't help. The times change randomly for different songs; I could play a song right now that ends a minute early and then it plays all the way through the very next time I play it through another playlist or something. Any suggestions?

Same problem here!  Why did apple have to change what was already working perfectly???  Don't try to fix something that isn't broken.

Same problem here. I have set the start time of some songs in my iTunes library to start later in the track or end early (usually to cut out annoying artist banter between songs on live albums). In iTunes, all of those songs still have my set start times, but when played through the music app on ios 10.0.2 all tracks start at their original start time and some other random tracks start or end at a random point.

I have had the songs set up this way in iTunes for a very long time and never had a problem with them being played the way I set them through numerous ios versions prior to 10.

The reset all settings suggestion did not work for me, either.

Other thoughts on how to fix this?

I talked to Apple and tthey said to remove the download from my music list and re download. It worked, but that means I have to go through 4500+ songs. The ones I did that too worked though.

How exactly? I tried to remove all the songs from the playlists and re-downloaded them but they're still not working right.

Doing them all doesn't work. You have to know which songs they are, go to the list of all your songs. Hold down on the song until then menu comes up, hit "Remove..." then "remove download". Then hit the cloud icon to re-add that's the only way it's worked for me.

That's the thing, it changes every time. Like for example, I played a song through one of my playlists, and it messes up. I play it through an album and it plays just fine. I stop the playlist and play the same song through another playlist and it's fine, but it messes up another song. It's random and it changes for each song, every time I play through it on a playlist.

This was really aggravating because I complained about this very issue in the iOS 10 beta as my music was all screwed up.  I reverted back to iOS 9 in the hopes that it would be fixed in the final release.  A simple Google search confirmed my fears and I found this page.  Still not fixed

I have spent hours setting Start/End times on my 8000+ songs so you can only imagine how frustrating this bug is to me.

Is Apple working on a validated solution for this issue?
