Q: captive.apple.com is preventing me from connecting to my wifi

When I attempt to log into my wifi connection, a program called captive.apple.com opens that is a blank window and only allows me to cancel which will return me to wifi login.  Can not find anything about this issue anywhere.  Can anyone help?

Based on your description of the address that you're seeing, it sounds like the Wi-Fi network you're trying to connect to is a captive network, meaning that you need to provide additional log-in information in order to connect.     IM having the EXACT same problem and I have the exact same extender. I've tried everythinG. Please let me know if you find a Solutio.

    I'll post any solution if I ever find one.  Cannot spend any time on it now but will be trying again soon.

    I think it is an issue with ios10?  My husband and my phones were perfect, no problems whatsoever.  The second we updated to ios10 both phones stopped connecting to wifi automatically, we have to forget the network and then reconnect.  Also, since upgrading my iMac and MacBook Pro to Sierra they immediately started having the same problem.  So frustrating and I think it maybe has something to do with the ability of the latest updates to access all files from all devices or something.  I don't know, but I am currently on hold waiting to speak with Apple support for the third time, getting a little frustrated :-/  I have reset, erased, jumped through hoops like crazy.  Oh my gosh, on hold forever and they finally answered and hung up on me....ugh!!!!
