Q: Battery drains very fast

Hello,

I have a problem with the battery of my iphone6s. Since a few days ago it seems that my battery is draining very fast and it's not normal, it never happened before.  I am sure that it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm using it too much, because it's not the case.

And all this happened from a day to another. I never complained about my battery, now I have to charge my phone like twice a day. It's relatively new, I bought it in february and it never caused me any troubles.

I'm thinking maybe it can have something to do with the fact that I didn't upgrade it to the new software yet? I've just post poned it and didn't do it yet.

Any ideas? Thank you for your help.

    Hi Ioana Iulia,

Thanks for bringing your issue up in the Apple Support Communities. I understand that your battery life is not lasting as long as you'd like it to. I have an iPhone as well and I depend on being able to use it as needed without having to be concerned about my battery. I'll be happy to help you with this.

The following articles go over steps you can take to help with the battery performance. Adjust the settings as necessary and then fully charge your battery and test for a day or so. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you have a current backup of your iPhone, either in iCloud or iTunes.

    Hi Becky,

Thank you very much for your answer! I will read the articles and try everything I can. I am a bit disappointed because everything changed in one night. I never had to concerne about my battery and now I get very anxious because even if I'm using it with limit it still discharges very fast...I know that this is not normal. I cannot use it with internet or use any app that uses internet because soon it will turn off. It's not a smartphone anymore..it's just a simple mobilephone

Don't let this "Community Specialist" patronize you and then give you a generic response with a link to articles that are not relevant. I too am experiencing this. The only explanation I could think of is that iOS 10 is responsible for this. My 6s+ suddenly dies so fast  that I've gone from charging once every 2-3 days to needing a charge 2-3 times a day.

Before even reading the suggested tips provided by becky_s22, I was aware of the possible causes of battery drain to an iPhone that Apple Support highlights in those links.

Even after double-checking my settings and looking at what is using the most battery life (the new feature in

Settings --> Battery --> Battery Percentage ON) there aren't any abnormalities than previously (last week).

Also! While charging, the Apple 5W USB Power Adaptor (the little white block that plugs into the wall) is suddenly overheating.

I don't think that it's a coincidence that so many people are having this same issue all at once.

I forgot to mention that I have used 3 different Power Adaptors with 3 different Lightning Cords and they are all overheating. Attaching different cords to different adaptors had the same result as well.
