Q: Cloud emails & gmail emails

Hello all,

Thank you for taking the time to help me out here.

I am a small business owner and I am trying to work out a 'better' system/solution for how I store my emails. I my apple mail account I have every email of importance to the business for the last 10 years. There is maybe 250 folders and 86,000 emails .

At the moment I have two time machine backups in different locations updated each week. If I lost all my emails is would be unhelpful for the business.

Can I store all of my emails in icloud?

Can I export all of my emails and folders to my gmail account? If so am I also able to then move emails into folders with my apple mail and they will update on Gmail and vica versa. The aim would be to have my email live on my mac in apple mail as well as having a live gmail account with all of the folders.

I like to use apple mail more as I find it more user friendly than gmail.

I really just need to protect me emails

Again thank you for taking the time to have a read of my problem.

Cheers,

Mac Pro

They are already stored in iCloud if you already use iCloud.  However, using iCloud for business is not really recommended to its lack of robustness.

Yes, you can copy over all the emails to Gmail.  Open a Gmail account either for business or pleasure.  Google offers options for business users like yourself with added support.

Once the account is opened, go to Mail (top)(on your Mac as it's easier to do this) > Add Account > choose Google > log in with your Gmail ID and password (and enter your verification if you set that up too) > once the Gmail populates > open a folder in Apple Mail > press Command A (to select all) > right click > choose option to copy to the required Gmail folder you set up > rinse and repeat with all other emails and folders in Apple Mail.
