Q: how do I delete photos stored in macbook air imported from iPhone
I am running low on my Macbook Air storage as every time I backed up my iPhone, I also chose to "import" all new photos in the iPhone.
I believe this is duplicated as iTune backup does keep all the iPhone pictures (thousands of them since 2007) !!
Now my question is : how do I safely delete ALL photos imported from iPhone and keep the rest which I took using digital camera ? Does it delete the original photos in iPhone too the next time I sync up ?
Thanks all.

In Photos for Mac you can find the photos taken by the Phone with a smart album - camera is [select your phone form the list]
To delete photos form Photos select the photos and hold down the command key and press delete - unless you are using iCloud Photo Library this will not delete form the Phone
I'm not really clear on what you have or what you are trying to accomplish
And although it is not really part of this discussion you are way behind on updates - the current software is OS X Sierra 10.12 and Photos 2.0 - unless there is some reason not to it would be good to get up to date as there are lots of bug fixes and new features in the many updates you have not installed
