Q: how do I delete photos stored in macbook air imported from iPhone

I am running low on my Macbook Air storage as every time I backed up my iPhone, I also chose to "import" all new photos in the iPhone.

I believe this is duplicated as iTune backup does keep all the iPhone pictures (thousands of them since 2007) !!

Now my question is : how do I safely delete ALL photos imported from iPhone and keep the rest which I took using digital camera ? Does it delete the original photos in iPhone too the next time I sync up ?

Thanks all.

    Hi LN :

I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 version. iPhoto (actually "Photos") 1.0.1.

    iTunes version : 12.5.1.21

    iPhone : 9.3.5 (iPhone 6s +)

The issue is that I keep every single pictures took from iPhone since 2007, and I never deleted them after synching up with iTune. Over the years, I guess I also "import" (you know every time I connected to iTunes, it pops up a page and ask to import iPhone pix and I did until I realized I am running out MBA space and then I stopped).

I guess I could bring up Photos app, and click on the "property" to see which of the pictures is taken by iPhone, then I can delete it. But there are 14,000+ pix in my iPhone :-(

Hope there is a way to select/display all pix imported from iPhone, then click, and delete. Or at least highlight all and delete.....

    Thanks.

In Photos for Mac you can find the photos taken by the Phone with a smart album - camera is [select your phone form the list]

To delete photos form Photos select the photos and hold down the command key and press delete - unless you are using iCloud Photo Library this will not delete form the Phone

I'm not really clear on what you have or what you are trying to accomplish

And although it is not really part of this discussion you are way behind on updates - the current software is OS X Sierra 10.12 and Photos 2.0 - unless there is some reason not to it would be good to get up to date as there are lots of bug fixes and new features in the many updates you have not installed
