Q: iOS 10.0.2 screen responding

I have an iPad Air. I updated yesterday to the iOS 10.0.2 and have had trouble with the screen not responding to touch. I have managed to get it going each time with resetting over and over until it works. I can't use my iPad for more than five minutes that the screen doesn't stop responding. Is there another way of fixing or am I stuck waiting for another update?

Thank you! I have tried every step but going to Apple Store. It was working fine until the update yesterday and it works for a few minutes and the screen then stops responding to touch again.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus.  Approximately 24 hours after updating to IOS 10.0.2, the screen stopped responding to the point that the device was unusable.  I experienced:

    - could not double-click and swipe away running apps

    - could not double-click and select/switch to a running app

    - could not tap and start any app

    - could not type actions/content into any app (play voicemail, select different tabs, enter text, etc).

...obviously no longer a "touch-screen device" when it got to that point.  I restarted the device many times (press and hold Home + Lock buttons), was able to use Touch ID to unlock, and on some occasions able to get screen response back for only a few strokes/taps.  After that it would become unresponsive and I had to restart again.  After restarting many, many times...I was no longer able to do ANYthing via screen contact.  As a matter of fact, when I was prompted to enter my PIN manually (as required after restart) -> I touched a number on the number pad and saw a different number flash briefly...six numbers typed in correctly accompanied by six incorrect numbers flashing = "incorrect PIN".  After trying that and verifying the same behavior occurred a couple more times, it became obvious that I would be locking my account or wiping the device inadvertently if I persisted trying to enter my PIN to unlock the device.  I left the device idle for about 2 hours, then connected to USB/PC and opened iTunes which recognized the device ("need to enter a PIN" message in iTunes).  I then tried entering my PIN again and it worked.  I immediately backed up my iPhone and retired it for the evening.  This morning the device worked normally like nothing had ever happened!!  I used the device all day with no indication of any issues.  This evening around 6PM EST: same issue again, frequent periods of no screen response.  I am convinced this is an IOS 10.0.2 issue.  I [normally] use the device heavily all day/night...every day (I work on a 24x7 Operations team for a multi-national and use all manner of communication/scheduling/apps/etc on this thing). I am now waiting for 10.0.3 (or whatever > 10.0.2)...hypothetically containing the fix for this...

I'm experiencing the same problems which only started after the 10.02 update.  I've tried everything except going to an Apple shop. I just can't use my ipad air 2 at all.  I hope there's a fix soon.

I did a factory reset of my iPhone 6+ and restored from a backup I made immediately before the reset: still have periods of time when my screen becomes unresponsive.  It happens at random times, usually after many hours of using the screen normally and then another period of unresponsiveness strikes.  I did discover something interesting today though: when my iPhone screen goes totally unresponsive -> I can command Siri to open an [the] app and regain touch-screen response.  For example: I get a text, tap or swipe to open: no response, any further attempt using screen touch for any function on the device = nothing...so I ask Siri to "open Messages" -> Messages opens and I can then continue using touch-screen functionality after that for anything as expected.  Works for several hours again, until the screen goes unresponsive later [again].  IOS-based issue? or hardware that works for hours, then not...then works again normally for hours until the next unresponsive session.?..which I can now voice command through to regain response?

I Have had the same problem but today I went to twitter and found apple support.  They were quick to respond and they guided me to a solution.  I followed instructions and reinstalled to the software and everything is working perfectly now.  Here is what they said,

Let's try reinstalling the software on the iPad. To do so, follow the steps listed here: http://apple.co/1pperyK . It says, "If you can't update or restore..."

but the steps will be the same. Just remember, when you get to step 4. choose "update" and not "restore".

    I hope this helps.
