Sep 13, 2016 4:50 PM in response to alidinakby Jacobr56,I have this same problem. The messages app is just blank. Turning the phone off and on is a temporary fix, but the problem will happen again.

Sep 13, 2016 4:59 PM in response to Jacobr56by alidinak,I restored my phone back to iOS 9. Could care less about iOS 10 until my 7 arrives. I'll deal with it then. SMH, Apple is effing up.

Sep 13, 2016 7:25 PM in response to alidinakby jefftb78,Same problem here. I am not getting some messages (they show up on my iso9 iPad) and most messages are going out text and not iMessage when I can. And sometimes the Message app won't load.

Sep 14, 2016 10:02 AM in response to alidinakby jwelsh88,So, I was excited to upgrade my phone (6S, AT&T) to iOS 10 yesterday (as I usually am with upgrades) -- to the point that I brought my laptop into work to facilitate the work.
And while I have generally been happy with the upgrade, there are a few issues. Including the battery life and heat of the phone, I am finding that iMessage continues to crash, or freeze. I am able to use it for a short period of time before either I am not able to open my messages or the iMessage section of Settings. Or, it reverts to SMS ("green") rather than iMessage.
I keep doing a restart to free me of the problem -- but it has yet to stop. Any help from anyone?
Thanks so much.

Sep 14, 2016 7:09 PM in response to alidinakby auzik18,I'm having this problem too. Ironic & frustrating that it's an Apple app that is not functioning properly and not a downloaded app...

Sep 26, 2016 11:40 AM in response to alidinakby VHAJR,I haven't seen the white screen but almost half of the messages to my kids (both on iOS 10, we are all using iPhone 6s's) are sending as SMS, but still FAIL to send (they never see them). iOS 10 seems to have squashed a lot of bugs but IMO not being able to communicate with my children reliably is a huge issue considering texting has been around for a little while now...

Sep 27, 2016 9:01 AM in response to alidinakby Kslangley,My iMessage screen went completely blank and won't load any of the messages on my phone although if I go into usage it says I have stored messages there. It's now only showing new messages I write, which is a miracle after it would barely let me even type for several hours. Anyone find a solution to this?

Oct 4, 2016 11:00 AM in response to alidinakby auzik18,I spoke with Apple support chat for about 3 hours one night. The solution is to re-download iOS 10 manually.
Steps:
-When your phone is connected to your computer through USB, press and hold the home and power button until AFTER the apple logo appears
-The itunes logo will appear with an image of the USB cord
-iTunes will then pop up and ask you if you wish to manually restore or update your phone
-Choose *update* then wait
For me, my phone updated to iOS 9.3.5 & I was no longer connected to my service provider (Verizon). I then had to do a software update back to 10. This fixed my iMessage issue, however I lost all of my text messages. Hopefully this works for some people.
