Q: Issue with Newly Installed Sierra

I recently upgraded my iMac 27in late 2015, 3.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor with Sierra. Since this upgrade I've found that after the computer has been up & running awhile and then enters & exists a sleep mode that my appls. become locked up. Can't even get a normal shutdown to work.  Looking for possible solutions.

    Start troubleshooting by  booting into Safe Mode.

    Restart in Safe Boot mode by holding down the Shift key at startup. Safe Boot is quite slow because the OS performs some cleanup and verification tasks, so give it time. After you're completely logged in, restart normally.
