Q: Should I have two copies of the Installer.app?

Should I have two copies of the Installer.app?  When checking my activity monitor due to slow speed I have two open installer apps that seem to be monopolizing cpu and memory.

Can I safely delete one...is something corrupted that they are constantly running?

MacBook Pro, iOS 10.0.2

    Howdy Celeste Jones,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

From your post it looks like you have a couple of instances of Installer.app running on your Mac.  Have you installed anything previously, and do you still see the installers running on your Dock?  If so, simply finish the installation process or quit the installers.  If not, then let's go ahead and just restart your computer to safe mode, and then restart normally to see if the issue persists:

macOS Sierra: Start up in safe mode

    Take care.

Thanks for your help Brenden. No recent installations and none in the dock.  Did a safe mode restart and over time the app spontaneously returned...may have picked up some malware but not sure what....
