Q: iOS 10 upgrade camera problem

Hi all!

Did an upgrade on iPhone 6 to iOS10. Found out that camera is working very badly. When accessing camera on lockscreen, it hangs up. After the launch, camera shows black screen or static blurred picture on photo setting. Changing it to recording, the camera sometimes starts to work. Then switching to picture taking setting, works poorly The recording settings are working slightly better but still hangs up frequently. Same applies to accessing phone after unlocking the phone. Haven't done anything on hardware and everything was working just fine before upgrade. What can be done about it? Thinking about downgrading again, to have camera functioning normally again. Need to use it a lot.

Cheers!

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

This is ridiculous what are apple going to do about the update that shouldnt have been released thats messed up more iphones than i can count.....i have the exact same problem, go to camera (photo) you just get a black screen, if you slide to left once (video) the camera activates occassionally but in video, if this fails go left again (slo-mo) it should activate, sometimes you can slide back right into (photo) and get a blurred locked image and once in a blue moon the (photo) option will decide it wants to come on. Clearly not a problem with the actual camera hardware as it does come on in (video or slo-mo) mode and was also working 100% as it should do before the ios10 update.

I am a photographer and use my iphone on a daily basis to recce shots and frame them up using the iphone camera as i travel around daily before returning with my pro kit. My iphone is a bought handset so not under contract yet apple IOS10update has made my handset inoperable for what i use and essentially require it for.

Do not redirect me to a useless page of info about closinjg the camera app and restarting the iphone as im an intelligent sort with plenty of common sense and did that the first time it happened like 99% of other normal people with the same problem would try

I want this resolving now this has got to be apples greatest disaster to date, ios10 is useless in its current form

Absolutely no use whatsoever closing the app and restarting. People do not need advice that they would have done the first time the camera wasnt working after the ios10update without having to come to apple forums for a sloution that apple will know themselves does not work.

I have this same problem on the new 7 plus that I just received. We have not noticed this issue on my husband's 7. Almost every time I try to take a pic it is grey and blurry. If I change to video then back to photo it usually starts working. Apple please fix this!!!!!

    Hi nukulardave!

Did a system downgrade and the camera is working fine again as didn't mind to set up everything once more. Just wanted phone working like before again. But be warned: It is a hassle and is gonna test your patience!!!! If you still want to do so, there are plenty instructions and videos on the internet. But I highly recommend to turn off the two-step verification, allow notifications on lock screen and back up your files and Co before starting the downgrade. It will save you a lot of time and headache! I didn't do it and ended up stuck in a beyond frustrating and time consuming security loop. Also, the downgrade will not accept your passwords even though you typed in everything correctly and you'll have to do some other setting resets. As I recently switched from Android to iOS, didn't know the systems good enough to have things working well. To cut things short, ended up managing passing by the security loop and wiped the phone after the downgrade. Now, phone working just fine. Conclusion: after this whole ordeal, I'm afraid of new upgrades now. Waiting for new release with bug improvements and then do the upgrade.
