Q: Battery Issue iPhone 6S

My iPhone 6S is less than a year old. It works fine.

I shut it off every night regardless of the power percentage.

IF I shut it down and the battery is around 40% , when I turn it on in the morning it starts up. I can access using my code , but as soon as I touch an icon or swipe to a screen, it shuts down. I plug it in and the battery shows the Red Bar indicating the battery is critically low, yet after less than a minute it boots up and shows the same percentage as when I shut it down within 2%, I can unplug it then and it stays on. So I know for a fact the battery is not dead.

To me this sounds like an issue with how the software/hardware is seeing the battery on start up.

I have tried restoring it several times. It still happens. As well I updated to the latest software update 10.0.2 (14A456)  But it was doing it even before I updated to 10.0.2. That is about as complete as I can get. It is a 64gig  with 49 GB available

Does anyone have any idea why, or is having the same issue?

Thanks

    Hey Mr. H,

Thanks for being a part of Apple Support Communities.

If your battery is draining while the iPhone is powered off, and you've already restored to factory settings using iTunes multiple times, then I suggest that you seek service for your iPhone.  Check out the link below to find out your service options:

I'm having similar issues. Mine jumps from 30% charge to 1% in a few seconds then shuts down.

Now here is the stranger part.

As soon as it reboots after connecting to a charger it show 30% charge. When I unplug it it still shows 30% and runs like nothing happened for a good few hours.

Did notice my phone is also getting hot.

Thanks, but the phone is Not draining when shut off. It just says there is no power. As soon as it's plugged in and powers up, it says there is 40% battery within 2% of what it was when I shut it off. The battery life is exactly what it was when I shut it down, within 2%.   As well I left it on last night at 40%   and it has been running fine as is currently at 5%. , so the phone is not shutting down at 40% as many users are complaining about.   I am going to lrt it drain to zero. Charge and restore to see if th at helps. Thanks for taking the time to reply
