Q: iphone 6s camera lag

I’m experiencing an issue with my iPhone 6s where the camera app is sometimes very laggy when starting up. Most of the time things are fine – I open the camera app and instantly see images from the rear camera. However, on occasion I will get either the last photo taken showing or (more often) see really slow updates (like a frame a second) from the camera for 5-6 seconds before it becomes usable. I haven’t seen anything online about others experiencing this issue, so it would be good to know if this is an isolated hardware issue or something others are seeing (and likely to be fixed by a future software update). FWIW I have done a complete restore on the phone via iTunes without the issue being solved.

Read my post again. if Apple implement a SW fix whereby pressing the home button when in the camera app force closes this application, of course it's a solution. This problem will never happen if the camera app is not in multitasking.

Yep, that would be a great fix, but it seems for Apple it is too complicated to implement it

The last help is the initial backup of Robber80's wife, which has eliminated the camera freeze on his iphone 7. Maybe by doing the procedure again, we still have hope its gonna work.

Otherwise, we are left only with an option to report the bug to Apple:

    - as user: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

    - as public beta tester: via the "Feedback" app that is preinstalled with every ios beta on the iphone

    - as developer: https://bugreport.apple.com/

    Hi
I am new to this forum, just came across it while searching for my 6s camera issue.
One thing that i want to discuss is that after I updated to IOS 10, I face this camera issue, when i open camera after some hours like 12 hours delay, it freezes on a blurred screen and sometimes it works after 5-10 seconds and other times it just stays there until I click on camera roll. I tried every thing including clean install IOS 10 without restoring backups.
Just yesterday I downgraded back to IOS 9.3.5 and the camera issue is gone again.... I thought it had something to do with my phone but problem is with IOS 10 (10.0.1 and 10.0.2) at least for me...

The problem is not confined to ios10 or later. It happened before that (ios 9.3). I feel the problem first surfaced on the 6S and is on the plus, the 7 and the 7 plus.

I dont know if that is true or not... but for me now the camera is working fine even after IOS 10 clean install once again. Only distinct thing I noticed is , this time I did not gave camera access to any app (whatsapp, skype, hangouts) and the camera is working fine now for me without any lags

I just got of the phone from a Senior Advisor, I've been exchanging mails through two weeks now about this lag. I sent them some information saved on iTunes so that they can work on. She told me the engineers are still working on the problem, they don't know exactly what is wrong, but now she tells me that she is very interested and seeing very closely that the engineers can find a fix, because she algo has the camera lag. She notice it this weekend. So let's hope she can also apply some more pressure on this. Being a Senior Advisor I think she can.

She has an iPhone 6   16 GB.

Hi I am new for this chat, guys I see the same issue with my Iphone 6S 64 Gb since updated iOS 10.0.1-->10.0.2.

Honestly, I did NOT have such issues when my device was running iOS 9.3.5 !

Camera is lagging each time when you open it but when you don't use it for some long period of time, such as not less 20-30 minutes, you activate camera and the screen blurs during 10 sec., then shows me the previous photo and only then becomes usable !!!! IT IS COMPLETELY FRUSTRATING!!!!

I've had a talk with Senior Advisor and she advised me to do a restore via iTunes, OK I did but nothing has changed, then she told me to send a video of my phone lags, Ok I did, now we are waiting for some experience solution from engineers.

I don't know what to think about all of this, it is amazing, it is not a cheap one device! Apple team please do your best to solve this, I see there is not only me with annoying bug ! I know for sure that it is worldwide issue! Say for sure what is it ? Is it software or hardware problems?

    Thanks.

IT has to be a SW issue. If the camera is force closed (double tap the home button and swipe up the camera) after each use, the problem will never happen.

Ok, but is it mandatory procedure to do "swipe up" the camera out of multitask mode? I mean, is it OK for Iphone to do such actions? I suggest that camera must work correctly wherever it opened and it must open as quickly as it can but not during 10 sec. I will lose the moment I want to catch for this time!)

    Dimascer

I consider you one of the most active users in this thread and precise in your tests to determine if the bug happens or not.

If you say that the bug is gone, then I believe you!!

Just waiting for that ios 10.1... I only hope that it also fixes iphone 6s. Otherwise if it is fixed in 7 but not in 6s we are really XXXXX .

    Regards.

PS: ios 9.1 was released on 21 october 2015 and ios 8.1 on 20 october 2014. So we can guess 2 or 3 more weeks...

This is great news Dimascer. As calibiyau has stated, your previous investigative work with this problem have been very thorough so if you say it's fixed, I'm good with that as I'm sure you've tested the update rigorously. Please, please, oh please let this fix be effective on the 6S !

Update: I'm registered as a Beta tester also.  I'm downloading the update (10.1 Beta 2) as I type this message. I will report back as soon as installation is complete. Fingers crossed
