Q: iPhone 6 iOS10 Battery Percentage Incorrect

On my iPhone 6 running latest iOS 10 (10.0.1) my battery percentage indicator is incorrect most of the time. I cannot tell if the percentage indicator is stuck or something else is going on. This happened w/iOS 9, but seems to have been worsened with iOS 10. Below are two typical scenarios:

1. Indicator states value > 50%, but then shuts down

2. Indicator states value ~ 10%, but then when plugged into charging cable indicator jumps to 30%.

I see that when people were complaining about this prior the answer was to 'upgrade to iOS 9.3+' - well, that obviously is not working for me. I'd like to have an indicator that actually represents the amount of battery life I have left.

That doesn't help. The issue isn't maximizing performance, but of the battery percentage indicator displaying inconsistent and incorrect values.

There used to be a tip in that articles, which is now updated, that to real calibrate the battery, you let it fully die to where the phone shuts off and then you power it up to 100% without using it.

That's happened many times due to the percentage being incorrect. iPhone still hasn't recalibrated. It dies down to where it shuts off, so you plug it in and instantaneously it shows 25% or some value much higher than expected.

I have exactly the same problem, I believe there is a bug in iOS since 9.1.

Another weird symptom of the problem is:

    1. Make sure that your phone's displayed battery percentage is below 80%

    2. Turn on "Low Power Mode"

    3. Charge your iPhone

    4. Once the battery is charged to 80%, iOS would pop out a message: LOW POWER MODE TURNED OFF. Battery sufficiently charged.

This problem is repeatable and it must be a bug with the iOS release.

The weird symptom is intended behaviour, since the battery is over 80% the low power mode is not needed anymore.

Hi! I had this problem some weeks ago. In this discussion you can read what I performed and how I solved it.

    iPhone 6 battery percentage unreliable

In my case, it was a software problem, solved restoring my iPhone as new.

I have also been having this issue since upgrading to iOS10.  For example, I went to bed last night and the battery showed around 70%.  When I woke up, it said 16%, completed with the low power warning.  I plugged it in, and it immediately said 95%, and after a few minutes of charging said 100%, which it has stayed at for over 4 hours now.

I have the same exact problem. The phone would shut down when the battery indicator shows 50% of remaining battery.

I re-installed a fresh copy of the latest iOS (10.0.2) as is advised by the phone support advisor, but the problem persists.

Two days ago, I experimented with the following and it seems to have solved my problem.

    1. Charge your phone to 100%.

    2. Turn on low battery mode (Settings ->  Battery -> Low Battery Mode)

In the past 2 days, this has worked find for me. The phone never shuts down unexpectly.

    Please post your feedback here.

I mean turn on Low Battery Mode when your battery is fully charged. Don't wait till iOS warns you that there is only 20% battery remaining.

Once I perform a full hardware reset, Power & Home. power indicator seem to reflect true value. However it seem to get wrong after that getting stuck at a percentage or just dropping. I've been at 5% all morning taking phone calls act (reset) 22%. Thinking about trying a Beta release.

    I'm having a similar problem. iPhone 6 64gb.
Today I didn't use my phone more than a half hour. Set it down and didn't mess with it. Came back to it at end of day and it was at 5%... WHAT?! I couldn't believe it. I brought it home, plugged it in and watched. 5 seconds later, it jumped to 64%. This is an OS problem and it needs to be corrected soon. If it thinks it's at 5%, then not long after it will think it's at 0% and shut down when still over 50% battery left. Was having this problem a week ago where if it got below 20% it would just shut down thinking it was out of juice. Then plugging it in, would jump to 25-28% immediately. Restored the phone, and now this is happening. Come on Apple... Need your input, let us know you are aware of the problem please...
